My Minefield

The minefield of life I daily travel
Not knowing which step will unravel my fate, spell my doom
The bombs await me scattered, hidden
Knowing not which will detonate, blow away my soul

They were placed carefully, deeply in the ground
The slightest touch and they will explode
If I’m lucky, I’ll escape with minor wounds
If I’m not, it could mean my eternal end

Luckily for me, for us all, there is a map
Shows us the safest and most advantageous way through
But sometimes my eyesight is blurred, my mind confused
I miss my turning and head straight for danger

I have a helper, who guides me out of dangers grasp
Sometimes stepping in the way, ready to take the full force
Of my mistakes, my cumbersome roving
I would have lost my way long ago without Him
