It was an ordinary Saturday (well, at least I think it was a Saturday)...
I got out of bed and probably had a show and stuff, I don't know. I went on my computer and I was probably waiting for my girlfriend to come online (my EX-girlfriend now.. thank God).
Then, while sitting at the computer on the web surfing through sites.. I heard....
"bum wikka wah wikka wuk wuk wah wah"
*ok, that was an impression of the scratchy stuff at the beginning of Teenage Dirtbag.
So, I turned round and decided to watch the rest of this song. The singing started.. I loved it. I listened to it carefully because it was like a story and songs like that are cool.
I really wanted this song and with Napster on my computer nothing was stopping me, so when the song was coming to an end I made sure to read and remember the band/track name.
Later on, I downloaded it. I then played it for my mum who was not sure if she had heard it before .. but she liked it.
I then downloaded Hump 'em N' Dump 'em and Pretty Girl. I wanted the album.. bad. So, I phoned the shops and stuff and they told me when it was being released. Then, on the date they said I made my way down to Virgin Megastore in the Shires, Leicester.
I looked at the CD "Look mum! It's got the video to Teenage Dirtbag"! then I took it home. I was a bit miffed that Pretty Girl wasn't on it, but nevermind, the CD was 10 tracks of pure enjoyment!
I checked the Wheatus site, but not very often. Then I looked at the Bulletin Board and I considered joining but I was a bit scared because a lot of the time when I join things it's full of mean people, but I read a couple of posts and everyone seemed really nice. So I decided to join up.
Then, one day... I came on and.... NEW WHEATUS UK TOUR DATES! "MUM! MUM!!!! COME LOOK AT THIS! WHEATUS ARE ON TOUR IN THE UK!" and because my mum was also a fan she said "We've definately got to go!"
Then we booked tickets for May 2nd at the Sheffield Lead Mill. Fantastic! Then I started the posts "MAY 2ND SHEFFIELD LEADMILL" and asking who was going and like.. NOBODY off the board was going and I got those replies saying "Not me" lol.. which is quite annoying, but at least it kept my post at the top.... then I found out that UKBrendansGirl or Babe... or whatever her name is... was going.
We then became VERY good friends over MSN, then I got VIF Passes from Shira. I told Sarah (UKBrendansbabe or.. Girl) and she was like "Who's Shira?" and "How do I get them?" then she tried to get them but she couldn't, and I made a promise to her that I'd get her in. She was real upset that she hadn't got them.
We were going to meet at the gig, big problem was.. niether of us knew who the other looked like. I was told to "Look for the ugly girl wearing a Foo Fighters hoody".... but there was more than one girl wearing a Foo Fighters hoody, and none of them were ugly.
Anyway.. back to the story, I had.. 3 tickets, and I forgot to mention that to my friends until it was May 2nd, lol... so it was just me and my mum.. and a spare ticket. I got there and... the Wheatus tour bus was there and some guy walked out .. an official Wheatus tour bloke, my mum told me to ask what I do with these backstage passes. He was like "Are these the ones from Shira in America?" and I said "Yeah", then he said "Oh... well they do is get you into the sound check, and the sound checks already over, you missed it." .. I was heart broken.. then he said "Well, come with me and I'll tell you what we can do." Then he took me into the venue and said "Ya see that door over there near that orange wall? Go there after the show's finished and I'll let you in to say "hi" to the guys." then I was like "Thanks!".. that was Rob, the tour manager. I recall .. someone saying he was a Nazi, can't remember who it was though... LOL!
I started to queue outside and.. ... wah.... ... Phil walks right by us all. My mum was like 2cm away from him and didn't notice. lol. But he did have his new hair cut, and I guess my mum only knew what he looked like rom the Teenage Dirtbag video, when he had more hair:)
Then these 2 girls went mad, and chased after him, and they both circled the tour bus shouting "We're waiting right here!!".
Then.. a bit more waiting and we went into the gig.
Then I saw this girl with her friend, and they went to the front and Sarah said "I better get to the front now that I don't have backstage passes". I put 2 and 2 together.. but I still wasn't sure.
The support act wasn't that good, the instruments were well louder than the vocals.. lol, looked stupid because the singer was really putting all his energy into singing but.. I just didn't hear it, and I was right at the front.
Wheatus came on.. Oh.. My God. They're good. If I went into how good they are... Jesus, we'd have a seperate post.
Anyway... after the gig had ended and Wheatus walked off stage, people were walking away and I thought to myself "Oh my God! I'm so privileged.... all these people are NOT seeing Wheatus! God I feel special!" hehe.
I then walked over to this girl I thought was Sarah, and she said.. in this fantastic accent.. "Are you Luke?" and I said "Yeah, you're Sarah right?" then she said "Yeah!".. then we had this conversation. Then like.. we were holding hands and had our arms round each other and everything, and my mum thought I'd pulled! lol, she didn't know that it was my friend Sarah.
Then, I told her I might be able to get her in but I wasn't sure about her friend then she said "No! I can't leave Fran out here!" so.. I tried to get 'em both in then.. some guy called "Jonty" was with them then he wasn't allowed in but he said "I'm with them!" then ROb let 'em in.. the funny thing is.. none of us even knew him. lol
So.. we went down the stairs and I went through the door and Vanesa turned round and filmed us all coming in on the home video, and they all were like "Hi!" and in my head I was like "Wheatus.. AGH!" .. my shirt got caught on the door handle and I went "wah!" or something dorky.. they got it all on camera.. lol, they were all like "Woah be careful!".
I then came in, and I started talking to everyone, and I went to Vanesa and said "You're Vanesa right?" and she was like "yeah." and we were getting on REALLY well. I asked them all to sign my CD booklet. Vanesa was VERY happy that I asked her to sign it, and I was like "Hey! Why not? You're part of the band!".
Then we all had to clear out after a while, but not before I took those famous pictures with BBB! Then I told BBB my big secret *which all of you will now know* I told him how thanks to my mum and brother I was named after none other than Luke Skywalker from his and my favourite movies Star Wars! He thought that was really cool!
Then we went outside and Sarah and Fran got all my contacts and stuff.
Then I saw Phil and Vanesa, they remembered my name:) and again.. I saw those 2 girls that said "We're waiting right here!" at the beginning of the show, and I spoke to them. Few weeks later, when I got my pics online a girl called Kezbo recognised my face and said SHE was one of those two girls and her friend Rach who also comes on the board was there too.
