i went to see wheatus today so here is my review.
i met maria at east croydon station at 11.30, then we got the train to clapham junction, then the train to egham, in surrey. when we got there, we got the bus to the royal holloway university. we walked around campus and looked for the student union thing, and looked around to see if they were there. then we saw a sign that said 'student ball...founders quads' (they didnt even tell them that it was wheatus that was gonna be playin there! just 'major live band'). so we went and found founders quads, and walked around lookin for a way in. we found this huge pink and yellow tourbus, and remembering that someone had said it was multicolored, we thought that was it. so we looked in, and we saw one of brendan tshirts (the black one with the green circle and '6' in the circle) and i was like, 'thats it!'. so we waited around outside in the rain, then saw signs saying 'wheatus showers'. so we looked in, and saw some short blond guy, and so i said to maria 'is it mike?' and he turned around and came over to talk to us. he said the others all have colds and are asleep. then rob came over and got arsey and told us to go.
so we waited inside, further along the coridoor and through 2 sets of doors, and then got bored so stood in a doorway outside the tourbus. we saw liz go in the part of the building with the showers, then when she got back, shannon went in. we waited inside and mike came and talked to us, then he went around 'to explore', and came and told us what he saw. then pete came out and went to the showers, then brendan & kathryn, but when brendan and kathryn went we ran after them to say hey. we 'scared the crap' outta kathryn cuz she didnt see us there! brendan stared at me weirdly for a while then said 'did you change your hair?'. so i stared at him weird and after a little mock-hesitation, i said 'yes, yes i did.' so then i hugged kathryn and they said bye, and went into the showers.
we waited about half an hour, and then brendan saw us through the doors, and walked up to us to say hey. he liked my weird dog-tag thing with 'wheatus rock' on it, and said 'where did you get that?' and i said 'its a dog tag, i got it engraved', and then he said 'thanks!'...i didnt get why he thanked me but i didnt question it. then he went off somewhere. some evil woman told us we couldnt stay in there, so made us go outside. kathryn came to talk to us a little later, and she was really ill with a bad cold. she had taken night cough syrup a couple hours before, so she was high, bless! the evil woman kicked us out again. then we saw brendan coming towards us again, and went to talk to him. we explained how she keeps kicking us out, and he told us to follow him, then to 'wait there'. he asked rob to give us guest passes, and rob told us if anyone questions them then say that he gave them to us. so we pinned them to ourselves with badges (didnt wanna stick them on, that way we could keep them), and stood in an the entrance to the courtyard that the band were taking. pete and liz came over and said hey, then went off somewhere.
evil woman came back again and told us not to be there, so i said 'but rob gave us guest passes!', then she said 'but theyre not OUR passes'. just at that very moment brendan came round the corner and said 'no, but theyre OUR passes, these are our friends!'...so she got all apologetic (she looked terrified of bbb), and even offered to let us have passes for the actual gig (which we couldnt go to, it didnt finish till 1am). apparently she just didnt want any students sneaking in without paying, then we said we arent even students! so brendan mumbled something about how no student would have an engraved pick with wheatus rock around their neck, and fiddled with it. hes so weird! so then at around 5.30 we heard music and thought it was soundcheck, so went around the back of the stage, and had to climb over the barriers to get behind them. brendan and kathryn laughed at us for being trapped. brendan came over with his microphone, and made us smell it. it stunk so bad of eucalyptus oil! he said it helps with his cold. so he demonstrated it to us, then wandered off.
soundcheck started at 6, and they played american in amsterdam, anyway, song that i wrote, whole amoeba, freak on, lemonade, and brendan and mike played dirtbag while walking around the courtyard thing, that was cool. it sounded really weird and echoey cuz the sound bounced off the walls. shannon got all excited about the 'reverb' and said 'whoa check out that reverb!'..pete mocked him. brendan kept singing about queen victoria (cuz the building was built in the middle of her reign..according to pete. however according to pete, it is also made of 16 gazillion bricks, and has 49 windows..he tried to be all english and made up shit about the building!! hehe). every time a plane went past (quite often cuz its near heathrow), brendan would point up to the sky and sing 'bin laaaaaaadennn!!'. they got offstage, and then they all waited by the doors back into the surrounding building for us to say bye, and we hugged them all then got confused on how to get out. so they said to follow them, cuz theyre going out. then we talked to kathryn for a bit longer, and waved bye to them. brendan was talking but as we walked off he notivced we were going and said 'byyyyyyyye joooop-ooooop-ooop-oop-op'. we asked a security guard how to get out, and he gave us directions. we ran past the tourbus where brendan was just about to get in, and he stopped us and asked why we were in a hurry! so we were like, 'we have to catch a train!'. so he said bye again and did the wheatus sign at us. then we power-walked for about 2/3 miles and to the train station and got home. ive probably missed some stuff out but thats cuz my memory is nonexistant. i didnt take any pics tho, meh.
and now i am goin to bed, im exhausted!¬
