Gemma Part 1
i wasnt gonna make this post on but i got bored so decided to...theres no photos to go with it yet but when i get them developed ill probably post them...
if Mel or anyone wants to use this one their website they can do :o) its basically just copied and pasted from my dj tho so if anyones read my dj theres no need to read this...just so u know.
Peterborough...
I got the train to Birmingham at 2.13pm and met Flick at New Street station at 10 past 3, we waited a few mins and then wandered out to the car park where we found Jane.
We got to peterborough at about 5pm and met up with Brendan, we went for a walk and talked about the tour, the album and the singles, Brendan introduced us to a woman from Sony and we got harrased by a bloke with a harmonica, who later got nicknamed Phil by some of the other frogs :op Me and Brendan decided we were both worried about Milton Keynes coz "that place is full of weirdos!". We got back to the venue and met up with Char, Pennie & her friend and some other frogs who were speaking to Kathryn so we said hey to her and got introduced to her friend Elise, then said hey to Pete, Shannon and Mike and waited outside till it was time for soundcheck.
Soundcheck started at about 7pm and we went inside the venue, i knew they were going to be playing small venues on this tour but i really was surprised at how small this place was! Soundcheck didnt seem to last that long and then we spoke to Brendan a bit more. Me *edits the part where me and Brendan went to the toilet*
We were allowed to stay in the venue after soundcheck so we went and checked that we were on the guest list and the stood in the bar until the doors opened at about 8.15pm.
For the gig there was no barrier and i was stood with Char on Mikes side of the stage, we watched Uncle Brian who played for about half an hour, they werent that good, but that were a lot better than some support bands that i could mention *cough*Relish*cough*.
Wheatus were on at 9.30-ish i think and they played most of the usual stuff Teenage Dirtbag, Truffles, Leroy, Mr Brown, Hump em n Dump em, Pretty Girl, Song that i wrote, Lemonade, Freak On, Anyway, American in Amsterdam (which is gonna be the next single) and the 2 new songs-Randal and The Deck. During sunshine Brendan got a girl onstage to play the guitar only to find out that she couldnt actually play it, so that went down well!
During the gig Brendan asked Flick what the name of the new album was and her mind went totally blank, so Brendan got the crowd to chant *Hand Over Your Loved Ones* :op
After the gig we waited round outside, Brendan had gone to do an interview but we spoke to Kathryn, then Liz made Flick a penut butter sandwich :op Shannon and Pete were helping to pack their stuff away so we stood and had *cuddles*(i think only flick and char will get that?) from Shannon and spoke to them for a bit, Flick rescued Shannons keyboards from rolling down a hill and then it was time to go home.
We got back to Janes at about 3am and the next day we got ready and headed off to...
Milton Keynes...
We got a bit lost in Milton Keynes and got the venue at about 5.30pm, Brendan came over to say hey and then we met up with Sam and Rach and Rach's mum and spoke to Kathryn for a while, then Brendan and Pete came out to play catch so we all watched them (and slowly backed our way out of the line of fire!)
We waited ages for soundcheck and before it started stood inside the stage door at the side of the stage, when we were let into the venue i had my video camera so i videod soundcheck, again they didnt soundcheck for long and we had to go queue up to come in.
When we got in the venue we were shocked by the lack of people that were there, we were worried at first but the gig seemed to go well...me, Flick and Sam tried to be a bit more enthusiastic to make up for the rest of the crowd who were just standing silently, after some of the songs brendan even had to ask *did u like that song?* to get any kinda reaction out of the crowd! but at least there was no pissing in shoes and throwing stuff at them this time!
After the show we were allowed to stay inside the venue for a while, we spoke to Shannon who was wearing Brendans old school tie, and we spoke to Brendan and Kathryn. Shannon seemed quite pleased when i said he looked like Davy Jones from the Monkees with his new hair do AND he doesnt think i hate him anymore even tho i managed to insult him before the tour had even started (i didnt mean to, it just came out wrong!) woohoooo :o)
They had to start packing the equiptment away so we waited out side and then Brendan called us back in to wait in the warm so we stood inside again for a while but were worried about gettting told off by Rob so ended up back outside again, we decided it as time to go so we said goodbye and spoke to Mike for a while and then got hugs and went home. Me, Char and Flick got to bed at about 3.30am and in the morning Char went home while me and Flick waited for Jane and got ready to go to...
Cardiff...
it took us aaaaggggees to get there coz Cardiff sucks and we got totally lost even tho we'd already driven past the venue once!
i txted Char and let her know what was going on and she txted back that souncheck had started, so we panicked a bit and eventually got to the venue just as they were being let out of souncheck! Me and Flick went to macdonalds and then came back and stood in the que while Jane went and moved the car. We were let into the venue and it was even smaller than Peterborough had been and it wasnt even sold out!
Uncle Brian seemed to come on pretty much straight away, they were a lot better at this gig and flick got Ben to give me his plectrum, during the gig Ben spoke to us quite a lot and pointed us out coz we'd been at every gig :op
i quite enjoyed Uncle Brian at Cardiff and im actually quite looking forward to seeing them again :o)
Wheatus came on at 9 ish and played till just after 10, Mikes bass went funny during truffles at the start but other than that it was the best gig ive seen on this tour, im glad i videoed this one instead of Milton Keynes!
After the gig we stayed in the bar and i had to get stuff signed for some woman called Rachel that works with my dad. i got Shannon to sign it and he went *your dads called rachel????* and i was like *no stupid! my dads friend!* :op when i went and got it signed by Mike i was going thru my bag for my pen and i couldnt find it, first i told Mike that Pete had probably pinched it and then i sent Mike off to look for a pen. In the end i gave up and just spoke to Mike for a while, he asked if i videod the bit where he cocked up truffles and i said i did and he was like *oooh no can u edit that bit??* so i said i would but then i found my pen-in my pocket! and Mike mocked me for it so i told him that coz he mocked me i wasnt gonna edit truffles, i was gonna leave it in there for everyone to see how much he sucks :op
i spoke to Pete for a while but ended up speanding most of the night seaking to Shannon, he decided i needed the new wheatus badges to go on my bag with my other ones and i said i didnt want them coz they were too expensive considering i get most of my badges for 20p down the market and these ones were £3 for 4! and i didnt really like them that much, in the end he persueded me to get them but i said id wait till Oxford coz i couldnt be bothered to faff round looking in my bag for money, so Shannon was like *if buy them for you will u promise to wear them??* so i promised i would and he went and bought them for me and then Jane came back from getting Flicks stuff from the car coz Flick had gone home so Fhannon bought Jane some bagdes aswell...
Shannon said he remembered me from when he was in Relish and me, Jop and Flick at Guildford were clapping out of time and looking really bored, and at Birmingham when i sat down on the floor in the middle of their set :op (no wonder on the last tour he thought i hated him!)
we spoke to Brendan for a while and then had a drink and decided it was time to go find the hotel (again!) so we got hugs and said bye to Pete, Shannon and Brendan and went outside where we spoke to Brendan a bit more and he tried to do my accent and it ended up sounding like a cross between a Manchester & Stoke accent :op
we got back to the hotel and eventually got back to Birmingham at about 2pm on saturday, its sunday night now so i think im going to go to bed before i have to go to work and the Oxford gig tomorrow!
