“You want two what?” he replies. Since this doesn’t really make sense, you figure it must be a Japanese pun.

“Er…no,” Noel stammers. “I meant Nihon as in Japan, not ni hon as is two units.”

Understanding finally shows on Akihito’s face. And he begins to laugh. “Honorable sirs, the Emperor has no actual power in Japan. It’s more of a ceremonial title nowadays. Ten thousand pardons, but I can’t help you. I couldn’t give you Japan if I wanted to.” To make for his inability to help you, he politely offers to give you China as an alternative. You kindly accept. He then offers to let you have Ryouga as a guide.
