Wynterset White 'Wynterset White'

'Wynterset White' is supposed to have flowers of the faintest purple, but I say that the flowers are just white from purple/pink buds. A lot of rhododendrons are said to have purple or pink flowers, which fade. In reality, most of them are really nice whites which open from buds of another color. Who is to say when a flower has taken on "it's color"?

My plant is doing very well now that it is establishing. I have had no winter leaf burn in the winter of 2000-2001, like I had the previous winter. I'm still evaluating this one, but if it turns out any less than satisfactory, I'll just move the plant. I've heard that if your rhododendron is not doing well, just move it. Different varieties like different conditions. This one seems to be getting happier since getting used to its site. I bought the plant at Frank's Nursery and Crafts, Summer, 1999.
