He entered the sterile enviornment of her hospital room. The curtains were drawn, which added to the drama. The small, white room was almost silent. All that was heard was the quiet beeping of her heart monitor.
Emerging from her large covers was her left forearm. It had a thin, plastic tube connecting her scrawny, pale arm to the IV bag hung next to her. Dark circles englufed her closed eyes, which, opened, were deep blue. Her once tan skin was now pale in comparison. Her rosy cheeks were flushed along with her once red, full lips.
She slept with little movement. Her deep breaths slowly moved the blankets that swarmed her up and down. All was calm, but his heart raced. He was afraid of what was going to happen. He knew in his mind that his only daughter would die, but his heart refused to accept it.
He held her hand tightly, closed his eyes and slilently spoke. The heart monitor skipped a beat, then another. Soon all that was heard was silence.
