Pyro-GL

Breakdown:

The Pyro-GL is an evolution of the highly successful Pyro-GX craft. Using the same basic chassis further gains have been made in roll rate, weapons load, comfort and top speed. It is the all-round ship for Descent 3 pilots. With no single outstanding capability, quality or weapon to make this craft great, the GL relies upon superb balance in performance and weaponry to cover just about every combat situation.

The only weapon which distinguishes itself in the Pyro is the Fusion Cannon. The Pyro-GL has by far the fastest reload time for the Fusion, and draws only 3 energy units per blast. This makes the fusion the weapon of choice when facing over-eager Phoenix pilots. You can flood a corridor with a virtual plethora of fusion fire, making it far simpler to kill that pesky Skipnix!

With a top manoeuvring speed of 374 kmh at 1 bar atmospheric pressure, the GL is only topped for speed by the Phoenix at 418 kmh. Accelerating from rest however, the GL is the most sluggish of all D3 ships, and takes the longest to reach its top speed. The GLs ability to clear its own hit sphere is 0.5% superior to the Phoenix and Magnum-AHT.

High speed but poor acceleration means this craft should be kept moving quickly. Its superb balance ensures that it performs flawlessly in most combat environments. Often ignored for either the Magnum or the Phoenix, the Pyro-GL is ideal for those pilots finding themselves in two minds as to which ship to fly into battle.

Capable of carrying 90 missiles (43 of them seeking weapons!) makes this craft superbly armed. Its capacity of 30 Mass Driver rounds will delight marksmen. Wide laser mounts give excellent spread of fire. Secondary capability is well rounded, with an emphasis on seeking weapons; Homers, Smarts, Cyclones and Megas. The buffed up Black Pyro craft is an option only for those pilots with the funds to purchase the "MERCENARY" upgrade.
