Ms. Jury's Kindergarten Bees at Forest View Elementary School in Lansing, Michigan

Welcome to Ms. Jury's classroom web page. This page is dedicated to all the busy bees in room A17 -- Forest View's all day kindergarten.  Our classroom motto is "Be the best bee you can be!"  Our goal is to demonstrate responsible "beehavior" so that everyone in our class can learn and be happy. Each day, the student who has best demonstrated exemplary behavior is chosen to be the classroom bee.

Our most important classroom rules are:

Be a listening bee!
Be a safe bee!
Be a kind bee!
Be a busy bee!

Current events in our classroom

March is Reading Month

Guess what happened when we read almost 9,000 books?

Our 2000-2001 Student Teacher

Mr. Brian Mishler was our student teacher from Grand Valley State University. As part of a thematic unit on the care of the earth, Mr. Mishler introduced the concepts of reducing, reusing and recycling. See pictures of the children's activities.

We are readers!

Velveteen

Our classroom pet is a Holland Lop Bunny.  He is almost two years old, butterscotch and white with black markings.  He is trained to use a litter box so he is free to hop around our classroom.  He knows how to stand up and hold hands for you to give him a treat.  We feed him, keep him clean, and give him lots of love.  Bunnies eat pellets, hay, apples and vegetables like carrots and kale.  They need fresh water and papaya tablets every day to be healthy.  We need to brush our bunny to keep his fur looking good.  Click on the bunny above to see some pictures of Velveteen.

Time Change

Last year our school hours changed! Please remember that school now starts at 8:40. The first few minutes of the day are critical for kindergarten children in the setting of routines. Please get your child to school on time!

 A word about our teacher

Ms. Jury has been teaching for 23 years. Her favorite subject to teach is reading. She likes to play the piano for fun. She has two daughters. Katie is a junior at Okemos High School and Heidi is a junior at Michigan State University. Heidi is majoring in journalism and Katie hopes to pursue a career in music performance.

Homework Folders

Every Tuesday our homework folders will be sent home.  Homework should be done with parent supervision but each child should be able to do his or her own work.  Homework should be returned no later than Thursday in the homework folder.  Parent newsletters will also be included in the folder so be sure to check folders every Tuesday.  Please keep all parent notes at home.  Also be sure and empty your child's backpack and return it to school each day.
