A spotlight on the stage,
poised upon a grand entry,
shining on a multi-colored
mosaic, a swirl of cloth
plowed with designs, patterned
and furred with trees, aglow
with buildings, dotted jewels
glittering diamonds against
the black velvet gown of night,
this skin of earth bedecked
with man-made finery.
She winks a big blue eye,
sparkling in the golden sun,
and when she sleeps, stars
twinkle in her dreamy head,
coy, she flirts with a cloudy
negligee before pulling
a cottony blanket over her,
as life beats on under the covers.
