Bangor

Bangor, a township and village of Van Buren county, Michigan, on the Chicago and Michigan Lake Shore Railroad, 27 miles northeast of St. Joseph, in a good farming and fruit region. The village has an iron-smelting furnace, and "excelsior" manufactory, five saw-mills, two hotels, one weekly paper, a union school, etc. Population of township, 1525.

    Hartford, post-village of Van Buren county, Michigan, 19 miles northeast of St. Joseph, on the Chicago and Michigan Lake Shore Railroad. It has a fine union school, 2 churches, 1 newspaper, 4 dry-goods and 2 hardware stores, 2 hotels, 1 large stove-factory. It is in a great fruit and agricultural region. Population 1709.
