He was .... affiliated with the Masons, and in politics was a Republican, being proud of his stanch advocacy of the principles of the Grand Old Party, which he had upheld so many years.  At the organization of Quincy Grange No. 152 in 1873, he and his wife became charter members, and the latter is now the (last) living charter member of the organization.
