Marques "Droopy" Harris, Allen "Peanut" Bundy, and Brian "Cornbread" Ball are the three gentlemen who form the group, Tilt. As with a large percentage of black artists, Tilt's roots are grounded in church and they've been well seasoned with ample dosage of the soul oldies. In reguards to their musical influences, one might expect these teens to expand on the likes of Guy, the Jacksons or A Tribe Called Quest. But Peanut, Droopy and Cornbread speak of a more mature and astute musical awareness--Marvin Gaye, ZZ Hill, Donny Hathaway. Cornbread traces his love for music to back in the day "when my sister K-Ball got signed, I really got into the music thing then." Peanut, the quiet third member, informs me that he's been singing since he was a little kid. Easily the most talkative of the group, Droopy expounds, "I was always lovin' the melody and since I have a strong church background, I always loved the choir." |
