The Scene: Setsuna has a decision to make that goes against all her promises . . . And the Walls Trembled By Linna The silence of the mist was clear that all was safe around the door of time. I shifted from my readied pose into a relaxed position of deep contemplation. I feel I can barely breathe inside this spacious prison sometimes, I thought. The walls are all around sometimes far, sometimes near and sometimes almost, just almost crushing. I wrapped my arms around myself from the sudden anxiety. But there is a danger that is too happen. A dire threat to all the galaxy. But no. No. I have made a promise to guard. I would not interfere with time . . . But this danger is so great! The walls seem ever closer . . . "Setsuna, Setsuna?" says a voice. A masculine voice. I look up startled and clutch my scepter involuntarily. Fool! You should not have been so caught up in your thoughts. "King Endymion, I greet you." I whisper hesitantly to my deepest embarrassment. He steps toward me in almost liquid motion. His usually handsome calm face was tinged in concern and his beautiful porcelain gloved hands were clasped together in slight agitation. "Greetings to you in return, Sailor Pluto. I see that you are well. But . . . You know why I have come?" I nod in acknowledgment. Yes, I know. The walls begin to tremble . . . "I know you hold your duty in the up most regard. But Setsuna, they need you." He paused and closed his eyes briefly. He opened them and took my hand to my surprise. "Your highness, my duty is here. I do not try to change the paths of time. Yet, the threat is clear. And the danger lays heavily on my heart. Please, you know that." I answered. I should not be emotional here, I thought quietly. The shaking of the walls fills my ears. His hand felt so warm . . . I took a deep breath. "I ask you do what you must. And that is all I ask of you." He replied and released my hand. He swept his eyes over me in contempt. "I guess I was mistaken for so long. I thought a woman here was strong and was willing to do what it took to preserve and protect. Have you forgotten?" His eyes burned into me. I could barely look at him. I felt the walls crack and split . . . A fire I could no longer hold within . . . "Endymion, I . . . what will I see? Out there? This is my place. This is my duty. I cannot go. I cannot . . ." I closed my eyes in shock. I could never! But for Endymion, for the world. For them . . . In my outburst, I had fallen to my knees. Endymion reached with both hands and pulled me back to my feet. "Out there, Setsuna? You will remember your promise. And you will make your place. Because, I believe in you. And I know, you believe, too." And oh, the admiration and spark was alive in his eyes and I knew. I knew. And the walls were falling . . . I composed myself quietly and looked toward him. Outside. To be visible. To be of need. But so long have I hid in the mist . . . So long forgotten. I reached my hand into the mist and the walls . . . were scattered. There was never any walls. "Well, shall I tell Small Lady of my arrival?" I whispered. He smiled and then surprisingly laughed. His laughter lighted within the mist. "No, let the little one be surprised." I opened the door of time and before he walked out. I clutched his arm and whispered "Tell the Queen she is lucky. Tell her." He smiled at the words, bowed and said "Farewell." and was gone. I stood within the door frame. Steadied my heart and set the destination within my mind. And left the door of time. How have I forgotten! How have I ever longed . . . The wind. The sun. And oh, the stars. I laughed and I breathed for the very first time. And the walls . . . no longer trembled. *This was just a short lil fic i've been wanting to write with Sailor Pluto/Setsuna. And once again, if I got something wrong with the outer senshi or something else, just let me know. :-) --Linna (venuspoet@mailcity.com)
