Montano House

This section of my page contains a photo of the Montano house, owned by Jose Montano at the time of the Lincoln County War. Also during that time, Jose operated a small general store inside his house and Ike Stockton rented about half the building for use as a saloon. During the Five-Day Battle, Regulators Martin Chaves, Fernando Herrera, and about a dozen others took over the house until they were forced to evacuate by Col. Nathan Dudley and his troops. Today, the building is a museum.
