INDO INTERVIEW

INDO

Keams (Q): When, where, and why did you get into the art form know as graffiti? In addition, who got you started and who did you look up to for a "role model"?

Indo (A): I only started in 1998,the reason being. i was an artist,i could draw pretty good, and i saw lots of people tried graff, and just gave up, didnt make it anywhere, i wanted to pursue it. i didnt know i would become obbsessed with it. and i started myself, at first i looked up to taggers in the community DEPIKT, CAPPER. but real inspirations and rolemodels are INSIGHT,STELTH,SPER,VERSE.

Keams (Q): What do like the most about the graff/art culture? And why?

Indo (A): I just like exxpesssing myslef, new styles, faces,ect.....just a constructive feeling...like you have contributed to something...that feeling..

Keams (Q): What do you have to say about the graffiti scene in Canda? Who do you like painting with? Do you have a specific city any where in the world that you just love? Have you ever painted anywhere else and how does it differ from Canada?

Indo (A): Seeing as im from canada, the graff scene here is fine with me....i havent been anywhere else in the world to see graff...since im sort of a rookie you could say, ive only painted with my bro depickt,i wan an 8 man production. i like vancouver. havent painted anywhere else... but hopefully going to japan this summer...

Keams (Q): "Graff an act of vandalism" says the media. What is your perspective on this topic?

Indo (A): There needs to be some kind of new word because when people thing of graffiti they think of "kirk fucks turkeys" ...but i dont really think about it that much...

Keams (Q): Please tell me what graffiti means to you, along with one word that describes you and your art.

Indo (A): Graffiti means artform of the future, and 1 word is DAFT.

Keams (Q): What do you think is the best thing to do graffiti on: walls, trains, roofs, or paper? Do you enjoy painting legally or illegally more?

Indo (A): Well i like walls..ive only done a few trains..but those are fresh, illegal walls are dope..there is a good satisfaction to doing an illeagall wall.

Keams (Q): Do you believe that graff attracts girls?

Indo (A): Well my from some of my situations no...but non idiotic girls like it, like really... its just an artform..so they percieve it as that...that is the non idiotic girls..the other ones...well dont get me started...it turns me on when girls graff.........

Keams (Q): Give me a good chase story with all the details...

Indo (A): ...ok me and my bro DAY_ONE are bmbing this around tis new like plaza type thing...an its like 12:00pm...and were walking we have already wrecked some shit..and tis car like pulls up nice and slow..buddy stairs at us...ten drives away..then we killed a truck with bubs..then layout some tags and the side of this building...we come out on to the road on the way to do some trains...but we see tis little industrial park..and TYPER had already done some bubs...so we walk down the street towards he park...after the park we were going to walk down the tracks...to hit the trains...we walking..then we hear like this car burn out of a parkinglot and its heading our way..like this guy is going fast..we go jump into the ditch......he shines his light right on us..so we run down the tracks....and he goes away.were still running..so he cuts us of at the other road..we fucken exhausted at this time..we run back the other way...and we run past where we first heard him...by the first street..and he burn down the street again..and we run ino the forest....its pitch black...then we hear guys running with dogs ...there chasing us...were running through bush and shit..but i new roughly where to go..and we just managed to squeek out of he woods back to his house... ....it was pretty rough...i fucked up my new shoes.

INDO

Keams (Q): What new inventions do you see in the future that will help/hurt graffiti? What are your plans for the future?

Indo (A): Plans for future..i would like to travel canada and burn pieces in major cites from victoria to montreal.

Keams (Q): Do you think that your type of art helps or hurts the look and feel of the city?

Indo (A): It gives much character i mean alley ways are better off with graff...they let the graffers express there selves..and no one gets hurt..plus no one goes window shopping in alley's anyways right...and graffiti art doesnt bring trouble or gangs..well at least in canada i think....like stupid people think i does

Keams (Q): What are some "tricks of the trade" that you use while painting? And what type of cans do you think are the best to use for the different "elements" of graff (ie. piecing, bombing, etc..)?

Indo (A): Tricks i dont have any..i like krylon...ny thins for piecing, ny fats for bombing

Keams (Q): Do you have any tips for the writers just entering into the graff scene? Here's one for you that some people have emailed me about: How do mix paint in a simple and easy way using house-hold products?

Indo (A): Tips...respect the old skool shit, dont bite you will go no where. DONT STOP practicing...and 4 mixing paint....get 2 wd-40 male caps and get the red straw....

Keams (Q): Describe you think your style of art differs from others around the world?

Indo (A): I dont know. i just draw what my brain tells me to...and 3-d style is the style of the future.

Keams (Q): Did you and your boys have a huge production planned for the new millenium? If so where and who?

Indo (A): Nope..

Keams (Q): Do you have any last words of wisdom for all the writers out there? Any shout-outs? Any requests?

Indo (A): Words of wisdom, no...since im a kid, but i guess practice and dont stop..dont listen to other people..a long as its original..dont stop!!!!
