A little humor amidst the chaos...

Letter To Terrorists

What does Elbmek have to say about this?

Remember these are mostly my thoughts AS THESE EVENTS unfold. That means information has changed several times since i began writing this. Intending almost a diary style i chose not to go back through it to correct any misconceptions. For this reason its probably best not to use this as a research article or to consider any information as fact, merely OPINION.

K I am back to ranting. I am really pissed about something now...
Those four journalists that died at the hands of the Taliban, why did they die? What is their game? They have so little faith in their religion that they arrest defenseless women for preaching different ideas, treat these women like equals, making sure they are returned safely (I have believed all along that this was just a way of them saying "look at how good hearted we are, we treat your people well despite your bombs") yet they take the lives of four men who never commited any crime?
The talilban were so eager to enter this war. Spewing their anti-american rhetoric, and their empty offers (first we will hand him over with enough evidence, then he couldnt have done it, then they wont hand him over)  and taunts like the US doenst have the courage to attack them and then the real war will start when the US has sent in ground troops.   HELLO we have been there for what a month now?
And tell me what have the Taliban done since we began bombing? Run like women to a Macey's half off sale. All these people who make such brave claims and promises, who think they are so powerful  facing the enemy like cowards, turning coat and running.
Their idea of bravery is to kill thousands of innocent unarmed civillian citizens and to attack unarmed men, while running from the army of the people you claim to be fighting against. Let's compare notes here...

Losses Taken USA Taliban
Property billions of dollars HA my kids alowance could replace half the buildings lost
Life thousands of lives, tens of thousands of injuries i dont know, is there more than a few hundred to start with?
*snickers*
Morale Grown a great deal these tragedies have brought us together C'mon the taliban are killing their own who want to surrender, and they are scampering like mice when the cat's been let in...
Economy Hey we took a serious hit we rae recovering really well HAH what economy? You have to stop the wealthy from hoarding it all for there really to be an economy...
Overall result We are stronger, smarter, and more aware of the rest of the world than w were on the 10th of September, 2001 They are piece by piece crumbling.

THAT KIND OF SPEAKS FOR ITSELF DOESNT IT?

The next thing i would like to rant about is all this America bashing thats going on. Dont get me wrong, i LOVE the jokes, but for those of you who send them all the time, or who really feel the animosity i would like you to think about something...

Bin Laden and the Taliban are the ones defiling a beautiful religion, they are the ones who cause widows and their children to die because not only are these ladies not allowed to work, but they can be beaten in the sreets by strangers for leaving their homes unescorted by a man to beg to feed their fatherless children, often times  fatherless due to the actions of an archaeic rulership. These horrible people turn to their uneducated masses and claim to be prophets, giving religious orders, to people of little hope, many of whom have had a lifetime of constant war and know nothing else. They tell these poor people we are their oppressors, yet Bin Laden had THREE homes of his own just in Afghanistan (one of which was just a summer home *rolls eyes*). I bet HE and HIS kids have not been starving during the time of Afghanistan's lengthy famine.
I would like to address those of you who support the idea that we are somehow responsible due to our poor foreign policies. I would like to see any of you come up with a better system. I would like to see you people from other countries do better if you had the wealth and power of hte United States. We are not perfect, but we are the most charitable nation in the world. We as private citizens sponsor causes all over the world, from aides, to hunger, to disease, and saving animals and rainforests, in addition to those, the taxes we private citizens pay to our govt also goes to fund those same causes, we give two fold most of us. .
While you all are busy talking about what a bad nation of people we are we are doing more than any other nation to end these ills, how can you say we have bad foreign policy? Maybe it isnt perfect, but the facts are there, if you look and weigh them, you will find that we do try, wholeheartedly to bring the fortune we have taken for granted to people all around the world.

I'd like to end on a much lighter note. I dont know what date it was, but it was the first day we had taken over Kabul. It made my heart flutter, even skip a beat to see the people celebrating the overthrow of the Taliban there!!!
Media showing pictures of lines at barber shops to shave once REQUIRED beards off the faces of men who didnt want them in  the first place, people buying televisions, women taking off the facial coverings in public, kids flying kites, hearing the music and watching people dance in public for the first time in years.
There is one news clip in particular that gives me joy. It shows a truck with a ton of people loaded onto it. You can hear the music in the background, and there is this cute little man, just dancing, and you an see, its from his heart, and you can feel the glee and see the pleasure in his eyes. This reaffirms for ME that we are just in our cause, that the end result of our taking action to protect ourselves, will also be of great benefit to the people there.

11-20-01

Well it's been a while you know, all that sucky stuff like homework, kids, housework, geesh, seems like there is no puter time left *pouts*

Not much has really changed since last i wrote. I still feel Bush's handling of things is incredible considering his republican problem *snickers*

I am in total support of our actions in Afghanistan, and would support war against Iraz, and maybe a few other countries in this pursuit.

I would like to say i was disgusted with my representatives who told the postal workers not to panic, didnt shut down the post offices affected, didnt take appropriate steps really until THEIR offices were infected, THEN it was a whole differnet ball game. Double Shame on them!!!

I am also highly disturbed by the fact that all these start\s were so happy to be in the limelight making themselves look charitable by putting on a benefit, but like O'reilly from fox news has been saying for weeks, they wont stand up and ask why the people are not being given the money that we as americans have raised for these families.

Some say they have done their job, but i dont think so. They were happy to give their time when it looked like good publicity for them, but only Clint Eastwood so far has had the balls to say anything. Be real people, defend your good names, and find out why your names were misused and where this moeney is really going.

As for the charities themselves, this does nothing to encourage me to ever again donate to the red cross, united way, or any of the other involved charities. I would like to know how much interest is earned each day on the amount of money they havent yet given to its rightful owners. Is that the problem? these charities are trying to swing an extra buck? wouldnt be the first time would it?

Right now the big debate seems to be whether we should bring Bin Laden back and try him in a court of law, or kill him where we find him. Interesting topic and of course, i have an opinion.

I think he should be shot on site. Let us not make a huge media circus out of his capture, let him die quietly, without martyrdom, so that we can help move afghanistan into the 21st century.

I was watching fox news today. I hadn't occurred to me, but with only one radio station, and television being illegal, these people who are fleeing don't even know why they are being bombed. This reporter showed this old man pictures of the world trade center, and  of Bin Laden, the man had no idea about the attack, not did he know of Bin Laden, or his terrorist acts. You see the sad part is, the true victims being created by these terrorist acts, are their very own people. Throwing their brothers to the wolves like they thought we would od if they shook us up a little. Ironic how it turns about, isn't it?

Yet, these are the people they brainwash to believe it is the EVIL U.S. out to destroy islam. We didn't bring your religion into this, you extremists did. I have heard George Bush say much about the events that have transpired since 9/11/01 and never one time did i hear him say we need to rid the world of islam (yet i have heard several of these extremists say this about jews and christians), I have not heard him nor any other of my representatives say that Islam is bad. This is because we believe its ok to be different. It is ok for you not to think like me, and it works for us.

But we also know this is what scares you. See, because if your people have TV's and they see what you are doing, and that you are bringing this on them, not us. If they see they can make a better life, there will be no one to be dragged along behind you. You don't hate democracy, you FEAR it.

10-13-01

ok I have been off the net for what seems like forever, but some people are telling me was only a week. Anyway the point is, i have a lot to say... Mares stop laughing, i know i know i ALWAYS have a lot to say *rolls eyes*

first id like to start with the Taliban statement that was released soon after we opened a boeing style can of whoop ass on afghanistan...

Statements were made by  a Taliban representative, that refereed to bush's crusade, wanting to wipe islam from the face earth, and the storm of airplanes wouldn't stop, and the things standing out in my mind. First Bush's crusade wouldn't have been a crusade had they not started this. How did this protection of ourselves get warped into us trying to wipe islam from the earth??? I have never heard one of my representatives, even after this heinous act, say that islam is bad, or should be eradicated. You sick bastards may be able to sell this shit to your own, uneducated, starving flock, but we are not buying it.

Another statement made by the Taliban is that they are willing to offer 2 million more martyrs for their freedom and sovereignty. Is it just me, or do we need to define freedom??? I recently saw the National Geographic Explorer episode on afghanistan, and it was fairly recent, made after 1998, but prior to recent events, some of the things i learned, are that it is illegal to educate women, music and tv are illegal, as is dancing, chess, and women (including widows begging in order to support their fatherless children) are beaten for being outside of the home without a male escort. That to me doesn't sound much like freedom.

I have concluded that these people buy this due to their lack of education.  In that NG explorer episode i mentioned, they interviewed several of the Taliban soldiers, and civilians in support of the Taliban, do you know what their answers were when asked what the US had done??? all these people could say was that uncle sam was the devil, that they are starving because of us, they couldn't say why they were starving because of us, just that they were. This is a reflection of their lack of education. Someone eloquently spoken knows how to twist and bend the right words, to make the uneducated masses feel however they want.

Let us not make the same mistake we made after the Russia/Afghanistan thing was over. Let's not just leave them to their own devices. Let us help them industrialize, and irrigate, or whatever they need us to help them with, so that they can enjoy the freedoms we enjoy, and their unique ways of life. Let's educate them, open doors for them so that the uneducated, starving masses will see there are better choices to be made.

One last comment on the  he Taliban statements since we started bombing them, is in regards to their saying that they asked us for evidence all we gave them were bombs. I would just like to say, that long before we bombed them, they were playing this back and forth game, first they would hand him over with evidence, then they say he couldn't have done it, then they say they aren't sure they know where he is, then they know, he is under house arrest, then they will try him there if there is enough evidence, does that really reflect a willingness to look at the evidence??? How stupid are we really??? We are not your uneducated masses, we are Americans.

Finally i would like to congratulate Mayor Guilliani for his refusal to accept the gift from the Saudi Prince what's his face. I think that actions speak louder than words, his actions do not reflect a desire to rid the world of terrorists. I think that by refusing to take the gift Guilliani sent a clear message that we cannot be bought, nothing you can do to us, will make us the hypocrites you are. You who fund these acts, against a capitalist society, which you hate, by taking advantage of that capitalist way, are not going to make us behave contrary to our principles and we do not want your blood money.

10/01/01

In the U.S. we have leaders, who are chosen by the people, its why we follow them the way we do. They may suck, politicians ANYWHERE in the world are corrupt, power hungry, and just plain bad really. The difference is we have in place certain protections to safeguard our people from this as much as i believe can be. Its why we are still united despite your attack.

In your country leaders bully their way into power, and then must practice hypocrisy
(using our capitalist society, that you so hate, to fund terrorist acts, outlawing heroin based on your religious values, but NOW its ok?) in order to continue to control. If your islam is so great, im speaking to the extremists not all Islamic, why are you afraid of your faithful people hearing about other ways of thinking. i will tell you. its because you know what you really are, its because if they see of another way that works, it takes away your power over your people. If they see a way in which they have hope, you will take it away. remove the temptation, you keep your own people down, and then accuse others of being your oppressors.

These "leaders" are scared to death of freedom and democracy. I mean think about this, if we are afraid to speak out, if we are afraid of saying what we think, if we are afraid to think differently, look at the power they have over us!!! The following song is a song that makes this point beautifully...

"Eye of the Beholder" Metallica, and justice for all...

Do you see what i see?
Truth is an offense
You silence for your confidence

Do you hear what i hear?
Doors are slamming shut
Limit your imagination, keep you where they must

Do you feel what i feel?
Bittering distress
Who decides what you express

Do you take what i take?
Endurance is the word
Moving back instead of forward seems to me absurd

Doesn't matter what you see
Or into it what you read
You can do it your own way
If it's done just how i say

Independence limited
Freedom of choice
Choice is mad for you my friend
Freedom of speech
Speech is words that they will bend
Freedom with their exception

I received an email with this attachment:

These same people who must use fear, manipulation and brute force to rule, also are very afraid of educated women.

I am grateful to have a husband who encourages me to be the best person i can manage, even if that means i make more money, or have a more prestigious job. Its not about who makes what for us, its about being happy, in love, and building OUR life together.

Now, today i will close on a positive note. I want to salute the corporations (who will not disclose their identities and i understand why) who gathered i think it was 5 billion dollars between themselves to put a bounty on bin laden. *grins* All i can really say on this, is

DEMOCRACY AND CAPITALISM ROCK!!!!

9/28/01

  "Disease! Disease! Spreading the disease.
With some help from Captain Trips, he'll bring the world down to his knees.
Power, yes Power! He'll show them all his power.
It pulses through his ice cold blood, a whole world to devour!

He's seeing, he's calling, his legacy he's spawning.
He's coming, corrupting, among the living!

Murder! Murder! Commit cold blooded murder!
Like Nazis during World War Two, they only follow orders.
Hatred! Hatred! A crucifix is your bane,
Once he turns his eye on you, you'll be better off dead!"

------ Anthrax, Spreading the Disease, from the album Among the Living

The above lyric describes well how i feel about the recent events. This song represents people who think they need to rule the world. Like being the totalitarian dictator of a small country isn't enough power!!!

I am increasingly more of the opinion that it is time for serious military action. Jesse Jackson, my message to you is STAY THE FUCK HOME!!!! The time for negotiation is over. Can't you see that they are just trying to buy more time? First they will hand him over IF we can provide evidence, before we can present said evidence, they tell us they know he COULD NOT have done it, next, they let a committee off clerics decide, the decision they come up with is to ASK him to leave voluntarily. If that isn't already enough, then they tell us they cant find him. Well someone knows where he is, he released a statement to the press. They are buying time and have come right out and said to their people they don't think we will take action. Then the news agencies report the Taliban are going house to house in the very early mornings rounding up civilians to fight in their army.
We are being lied to, and any of you who don't see it, please email me from the link on the front page. I would LOVE to hear an opposing opinion on this.
The other thing really irritating me at this time is that people are saying this happened as  a direct result of our foreign policy. I am the first to admit our foreign policy isn't all it could be. Name me ONE country, JUST ONE, who has ideal foreign policies, or ideal policies in ANY area of their governing. This war is NOT over our foreign policies. This war is because these radical muslims want the ENTIRE world to be islamic, and they don't like our ability to make choices, they don't like the way our women dress, they don't like the fact that if i think my president is an asshole i can say that, i can print it, i can buy a full page add in the new york times and tell the whole country that i think president so and so is a donkey raping shit eater (yes mares i fit south park in too). They don't like the fact that here, you can become someone. These millionaires complain about OUR foreign policy, but what about THEIR domestic policies??? I HEARD (don't know if this is fact but it wouldn't surprise me) that in Afghanistan a mother was put to death because she took a seriously ill child to the dr without and escort!!!

The following was taken from: http://www.uni-wuerzburg.de/law/af__indx.html

"Constitutional Background
There is currently no valid Constitution in Afghanistan. The Islamist freedom fighters Taliban are imposing a strictly religious regime where not even Saudi-style veils, which show the eyes, are acceptable. Many foreign aid operations have closed due to restrictions and harassment by street patrols.
                 History and News

21 Feb 1997: Two male French aid workers and five Afghan women of their staff are arrested after having celebrated a lunch party. The Taliban impose an investigation for "immorality" because the men were in the same compound as unveiled women. "

So my point there is, before you come killing my brethren, and CLAIM it is because of our own foreign policy, why don't you take a look at your own oppressive policies at home. If the attack was because of our foreign policy, then our foreign policy is a DIRECT result of your lack of acknowledging certain inalienable civil rights.

"In the cursed earth where mutants dwell
There is no law, just a living hell
Anarchy and chaos as the blood runs red
But this would change if it was up to Dredd
The book of law is the bible to him
And any crime committed is a sin
He keeps the peace with his law-giver
Judge, jury, and executioner!"

------ Anthrax, I Am The Law, from the album Among The Living

I will end this ranting by saying, its time to fight. It is time to once again show the world what being a super power is all about. I would like someone to email me and explain to me what our other choices are. Maybe we do need to look at our foreign policy, in addition to military action. The way i see it, we have two choices. One we can do nothing, same thing we have done in the past, but how will this make anything better? How will this deter terrorists in the future??? Our other choice, is to take action, military action is not the CURE, its just something that hopefully will act as a deterrent. If these people are on the run, they don't have as much time for committing these acts as they do when they are hidden, and not being sought after.

This is a letter i received from a good friend;

Dear RU the Great and Wonderful Web Page Diva *ok i added that myself geesh*

Please put something on your WTC page about how Canadians should not be lumped in with our stupid Prime Minister. It was released today from his office that he will go to Washington(too late) next week, but he will not be touring Ground Zero, because (and here's where I am ashamed of him) he has to get back for a party fundraiser. Our country is in uproar becasue of this so please convey my thoughts and apologizes to your fellow Americans.  Thanks!!
This letter came from:
One sPUNKY *hint hint* Canuck woman and her pet mouse *winks*

While im typing, and uploading and all that fun stuff *rolls eyes* id like to say something. While talking with someone recently we were speaking about the oppression we have contributed to somewhat in the middle east (its important to note that we had red cross workers and aide workers there till this happened feeding the people we are "oppressing" ). We came to the conclusion these people are jealous. They are angry that we have the luxuries we do, and that we take them for granted.

I say Im sorry you are there, and i am here. Im sorry you cant manage to get here, we would welcome you. Its not the fault of over 10,000 people either missing, injured or even dead. I am a naturalized citizen ( i wasnt born here but became a citizen) but i am an American FIRST and formost. My predecessors fought, tooth and nail, to secure for me, the privillages i and millions of others have here. We are spoiled, self serving, and many of us are increasingly lazy. We still will not have the lives we have come to treasure taken from us. We are still americans. You cannot divide us, you can not stop us, you cannot take us down...

We try to fight for the opressed, and suffering. I am not saying we are perfect. I am saying we try. Its an imperfect world, i am the first to admit my government is guilty of deciding who to stand up for and who to ignore based on their natural resources, or if they are in politically beneficial areas. That is wrong. Its the way it is. Any other country in a position of great world power, might make those decisions based on the same reasons. I don't know. The cards have been dealt.

I am still all for a balls to the wall war over this. Its not gonna end ever, but if we hope to have any impact at all, its time to do what several past generations have done willingly, patriotically, and with pride. Its time to stand up and fight back.

I have also come to question the intellegence of the perpetrators of this heinous act. First in that had they not commited an act of terrorism of THIS magnitude, we would probably still ho hum about our lives each day, its not really big news these days for one or two hundred people to perish (life is valuable, but we have become a little desensetized) but when tens of thousands are affected, that changes things.

Second, these people are probably happy they have screwed our market (still hope only for short term but im not as optimistic as i was a week ago) but what they didn't realize was that we ARE the world market. Did they not stop to think about that? many countries will be seriously affected if we crash and burn. Including, i believe, these middle eastern countries. Where will they get the food to feed their people from if the US goes under??? We are not perfect, but we are a significant source of 'charity' around the globe.

9-20-01

I always thought of preachers, as men of god, regardless of their denomination. I have always held tel-evangelists in a lower esteem by far. Jerry Falwell has done nothing (in my opinion) have done nothing to allay these feelings in me. Why would god punish us like this? its just plain stupid to be honest. If nothing else i would hope someone in the public eye would have better sense than to voice that publicly in the face of such a tragedy. I would like to take a moment to give to Mr. Falwell a cyber kick in the groin. WOW i feel SOOO much better *grins*

Again i would like to address those of you who feel we should merely turn the other cheek. I have heard from news agencies that these terrorists and their buddies made huge profit off our stock market because of this tragedy. I hope all you tree huggin, peace wanting hippies are ok with this. These people had lots of unusual trading activity within the weeks before the attack. So the point is not only did these people take thousands of lives from all around the world, but they also made large lots of cashola to fund further attacks!!! If that doesn't piss you off, maybe you took too much valium in high school, or maybe you are hiding from the reality these people have now made for us. Whether we strike back or not, we are at war.

"Enemies of freedom have committed an act of war." GWB

I feel afghanistan is not going to turn over bin laden, they are just buying time. I say lets kick some ass. I have a brother in law in the military, we are worried i wont lie to you. Speaking of worrying, i have a son he is 12 years old. I was telling him the other day (because i was worried of course) that if this war goes on till he is 18 he could be drafted. So i told him if he didn't want to fight to make good plans for college. My son replies to me, " I wanna go!" and i am like to college, good make plans. "No! To fight!!!"
My heart swelled and then broke. I had to tell him i would be proud to be the mother of someone who believes in us so much as to want to fight knowing this could be a nasty long war. My whole point is i am also facing very personal losses in this war. I am willing to make those sacrifices if need be. I would be sad of course, but, i would make the sacrifice willingly, as we all must.

I agree with GWB (weird i know, but hey, its not just run of the mill stuff now is it?) when he made the demands to afghanistan to hand over immediately bin laden and all members of his group.

"These conditions are not open to discussion and negotiation!"  GWB
"Whether we bring our enemies to justice or bring justice to our enemies, justice will be done." GWB

All i can say, is i wholeheartedly agree. Lets take afghanistan off the map. I know there are people there starving due to economic sanctions. I can only hope these innocent people will make it to the borders before it starts. I don't believe the Taliban will MAKE bin laden leave.

The following are a few good quotes  from GWB's speech tonight. They speak for themselves and i agree with them all. I really hate liking how well he is handling this. His speech tonight was eloquent, and touching. I for one noticed at least three occasions where he appeared to have a tear in his eye. He is touched, and i am touched to see our bi-partisan govt. UNITED!!!

"In the normal course of events presidents come to this chamber to report on the state of the union, tonight, no such report is needed it has already been delivered by the american people."

"for the last nine days, the world has seen the state of our union and it is STRONG"

"America will never forget our national anthem playing at buckingham palace. "

9-18-01

Am i the only one here who is reluctant to put much faith in Pakistan's efforts to help us right now? I am sure i am not the only person who has seen the reports that in exchange for their help Pakistan would like economic aide, and debt relief.  Is it possible they will have us help them, just to turn around and stab us in the back after they are all better? I mean Taliban supporting Pakistani's have threatened a civil war if they  participate in US led strikes against the Taliban. They have also threatened to assassinate Pakistan's president.  I am just skeptical to trust a country who is already on thin ice, being threatened by their own civilians with civil war, and who are on decent terms with the Taliban Pakistan being one of only three countries who recognize the Taliban as the govt. of afghanistan.

I hope our re-affirmation of faith as a nation isn't just another short-lived fad, to be forgotten in a year,
but a real affirmation of how great we are when we stand together. Look at the millions of dollars already donated by civilians and corporations alike. The most recent figure i heard on the news is FIFTY FIVE MILLION dollars.  I commend you Americans reaching out to help those in need.

I would also like to pay tribute to the thousands of people who have volunteered in this time of need. New York City had so many rescue volunteers they had to turn away thousands of people willing to help in rescuing and recovering victims. Pretty great for a state with the reputation of being cold and callous.

Look at our stock markets. HOW FABULOUS they did in the face of this tragedy. One more failure on the part of the horrendous individuals who attacked us. Many of our people REFUSED to sell in the face of all this. Day two after the markets re-opened and our markets are already bouncing back. Even some of the airlines who are on the verge of bankruptcy have stocks doing quite well.

9-16-01

I have got to say, each day that passes after this tragedy i am more and more proud to be an american.
I took a political science class one of my first semesters in college (started late, age 29 when i started, still attending). The most important thing i got from this class is that the biggest problem right now, politically speaking, is that people don't vote.

When we refuse to register and exercise our right to vote we still send a message to politicians everywhere. It comes through to them loud and clear. The message is, " HEY we LIKE what you are doing, so we choose not to vote, so you can continues as always!" What kind of message is this?? when you exercise your right to vote, you can send many  messages. You can say you like a particular persons policies, or you can say you don't. Either way there are far too many of you out there who wont send a CLEAR message with your vote. I was raised to believe that if you don't vote, you have no right at all to bitch about anything our government does.

Lets use this tragedy as a catalyst to show our real patriotism. Promise our self you will vote in every election. Your real power as citizens lies with not your president, but with your congressmen and senators. They are the ones who will protect your interests nationally.

I admire the way my fellow americans have flocked to the stores, to spend. Not like you would think, we are not in a panic, buying toilet paper and non perishables in droves. Instead we are spending our money on the luxuries we have all taken for granted. I like this because it sends a clear message that we will not fall. You can take out a few thousand of us, in a brutal cowardly way, and still we will go about our lives. We refuse to live in fear. We will still drive our cars, and wear our outrageously expensive clothing, listen to our music, play on our puters. You may have given us a black eye, but we will come back strong.

Terrorists across the world, you had better be on the defensive. We are coming after you. I have heard reports that the CIA has had three times the  normal resumes come in since this tragedy. Retired officers of the military in significant numbers are volunteering to come back. We do not take this situation lightly. We KNOW we are spoiled, lazy, greedy americans. Its what made this country great. People like Bill Gates *freaky little nerd boy he he he* who started in his own garage, with people laughing at his ideas is now one of the richest people in our country and possibly the world. Those things don't happen because we are waiting for things to happen for us. It is called the american dream. No it doesn't happen for us all, but its the hope of knowing that it is POSSIBLE that keeps us going.

I hope that the unity and national pride this incident has inspired does not fade with the time that passes. We must remember this forever. Never again will i bitch about paying taxes, or the money that goes into military spending for programs that till tuesday had never been needed. I had thought it a waste. Maybe this should be a sign to us that maybe our politicians do look out for our best interest. Maybe they do have more than their own interests at heart. I am not saying at all times, but at least some of them. We need to gain from this horrible tragedy a renewed faith in our government and her people.

"We WILL WIN the first war of the 21st century!"

George W. Bush on the world trade center attack.

This is the approach we need to take. The time has come.  Any of you who haven't accepted that we ARE at war *not GOING, ARE AT* are either hiding from the truth, or don't realize the full scope of what was done in our country tuesday.

Afghanistan starts out Tuesday by saying IF we present evidence they will turn Bin Laden over. Now they say he COULD NOT have done it. That doesn't sound to me like a country willing to look at evidence. I say bomb the shit out of afghanistan.

I also hold the opinion that its time to bomb pakistan. Not closing their borders immediately left open plenty of time and the way to escape afghanistan. They have screwed around too long. It's too late. You have shown where your loyalties lie by simply doing nothing. Simply closing your borders was not much to ask.

I for one am willing to suffer the most personal of losses to see this kind of terror brought to a stop. If that means *gulp* losing some of those i love, then its a sacrifice i am willing to make. When we fought the revolutionary war, for our freedom, it didn't matter how many were lost, what mattered was standing together and standing up for ourselves. How is this any different? i will tell you, its different because now we are fighting for the freedom of the entire world. The freedom to travel, and move about your lives without the risk of senseless and evil acts of terrorism.

We as americans have become docile and have these grand ideas of how peaceful the world should be. Ideas about how if we just do nothing this will go away. It is time for OUR GENERATION to do something to further secure our freedoms. We are not being asked to sacrifice anything that wasn't asked of several past generations. The price of NOT taking action is far too high.

Now that we have begun to pick up the pieces, and deciding what to do, i would like to speak on the prospect of war. It is definitely unpleasant, but it appears to have become necessary. If these countries will not be with us, they are the enemy.

It is my humble opinion that in addition to air and ground troops, we also need to start funding the rebels in these countries. This is war. If that means assisting rebels in civil war so be it. It would merely be another angle from which to approach this problem. Some people are saying that we shouldn't just go bombing innocent people.

TAKE A LOOK AT YER TV PLEASE cuz i think you missed something the other day!?!?!?

I get the impression from talking to people who hold that opinion that they are under the impression this is over. That would be folly. I think one mistake we made as a country was assuming it was over the last time this same set of buildings was attacked. IT IS NOT OVER and wont be until we go on a large scale campaign to end terrorist acts worldwide. If that means war will be fought here, then so be it. Let me see all you NRA folks pull out your guns, the day is here. Lets take care of these people. At this point no price is too high.

"I'd rather die on my feet than live on my knees, suffer the disease, there's a stye in the eye of the beholder."
---Skatenigs, Lyrics from the song Chemical Imbalance,
From the album Stupid People Shouldn't Breed

"Tired of being dealt from the bottom of the deck, taking no prisoners no regrets, what is the difference in heaven and hell? Its the price you pay to the wishing well."
---Skatenigs, Lyrics from the song Stand Tall,
From the album Stupid People Shouldn't Breed

These are becoming increasingly frightening times. I admit, at night, i cant sleep, i feel sick to my stomach, achy head, i am scared half to death. But we must not succumb to that fear. We have to realize that it is now them or us. Maybe we should all say a prayer for those innocent people in these islamic countries who will lose their lives in the near future. I am certain it will happen. I am certain it is necessary. I am certain that there is little other choice.

OK those of you who know me know i am as far from GWB Jr. fan as one can get. In light of that i would like to take a moment and acknowledge the wonderful way in which our president has handled this tragedy.

I watch the events continue to unfold, buildings continuing to collapse, the body count rises, people reaching out to help. Each hour that passes, i feel more and more ok with going to war, with all countries harboring  terrorists. This includes countries like pakistan, afghanistan and any others known to support and assist these people. No, i don't mean just bin laden, i mean any and every group of terrorists.

The prospect of world war 3 is terrifying. I am 31, i grew up in the cold war, under the constant threat of nuclear war. This is looking like the realization of those nightmares, only much worse. We will not be the first generation to suffer a horrible war, if that is what this comes down to. Like our american predecessors in vietnam, korea, world war 1 and 2, civil war, and american revolution, we will show our best sides in the face of this diversity. We will not go down lightly. If you want to attack us, prepare to pay, and if you support the people who commit these types of attacks then you are now at risk too.

My heart goes out to all the people in the US who will now suffer discrimination because of these events. Please let us realize these people have as much right to be here as we do. I would not be opposed to sending home all non citizens and tightening our emigration laws. But that is for our govt. to decide, and not for me or you to enforce. These people probably have no connection even remotely to the people that committed this heinous act.
Lets remember, as Americans, our origins. Unless you are a native american indian then you have probably come from somewhere else at some point in your ancestry. If not for our melting pot philosophy many of us would be living in much worse places.

Our thoughts and prayers are will all the world.
This loss is not just mine, yours or theirs.
This loss is a world wide loss.

I would like to take a moment to commend the passengers aboard the flight in PA that revolted against their captors and took the plane down. I think this was a most heroic act, and i believe it saved many lives. Maybe its time we as Americans stop counting on others to save us in those times. Maybe its time for us to defend ourselves. Those people most certainly new they would die, yet still took action. I am not saying anyone did anything wrong, it must have been frightening, but what i am saying is that if people on each of those planes had taken similar actions, not only would tens of thousands have survived, but this whole plan would have been foiled. This would have sent the message that the american civilians wont take this shit lying down.

Consider this a call to all Americans who are anywhere in the world, to fight back in any way possible against terrorist acts. If that means risking the lives of few to save not only many lives, but the sanctity we once knew as a country, then so be it.

Not since the assassination of president kennedy has an event so rocked our confidence in our invincibility as a country. Before kennedy died we knew there was corruption in the world, but until that time we didn't realize it could be so close to home. That kind of thing didn't happen here, we were innocent.  Kennedy's death didn't rock us because we loved him per se, but because until then we thought we were immune. People didn't just go around shooting the most powerful man in the world.

In the same way that kennedy's death caused a country wide loss of innocence, this event has caused a world wide loss of innocence. It affects every corner of the world.
Never before in american history, and possibly in the world with only a few exceptions has a crime on this scale been committed. The mass murder of probably tens of thousands of innocent civilian citizens. This changes things. It is time for us to update our rules.

I am not a blood- lust filled, hateful person. I do however, with each of these events and threats, become more and more willing to war with innocent people. It is not a matter of wanting to kill or be powerful. It has seriously come down to them or us. If they confirm the evidence they say they have that its bin laden, and afghanistan doesn't hand him over, that is the equivalent of declaring war with us themselves. I am reaching a point where i would almost support war against any and all of his allies. Like Bush said, "If you aren't with us you are against us!"

I am not saying the prospect of war is not extremely frightening. IT IS!!! but we have to stand up, we have to show the people in the world who feel just great about themselves after slaughtering countless thousands of people today, that we will NOT take this lying down.

The federal govt. also denies that it is within any policy of theirs to assassinate people. Well how lame is that??? apparently that little omission of policy is outdated. Assassinate this bin laden and take out as many of his followers, supporters, allies and protectors as we can at the same time.

Show them, you don't fuck with the good 'ol US and her tea time buds. It is not going to happen today, tomorrow or ever as long as the people retain their rights to bear arms, and as long as our govt. stands so strong in the face of such tragedy, we will not be phased by even the most heinous of acts against her people.

Some are criticizing that we weren't well prepared pointing fingers in the direction of airline security and our intelligence agencies. Well who the hell thought it would happen like this? is it really reasonable to point that finger at anyone??? i think considering what we already knew we did pretty damn well. With so few hijackings lately combined with our demand for expedience in our airlines does it surprise you that they had relaxed security in internal flights? There had never before been a threat on an internal flight. Lets not get caught up in blame, turning on ourselves, lets take care of the problem now that we know it exists.

The world stood strong, holding our hand while events unfolded. offering condolences and support. Letting us know at all times, whatever we need to do, they will be there. Thanks to all of our allies in this time. Let us as significant world powers come together to put a stop to faceless acts of terrorism towards innocent non military personnel.

I would like to close my little ranting by saying that i admire the way my country stood strong in the face of such tragedy today. Today I am proud to be an American.
This tragedy closed our markets for a day maybe two, probably not catastrophic in the long run, a lot of people died and were injured, orphaned, lost someone, but we stood strong and over all we functioned very well. New York was shut down very fast in my opinion, and at the same time we didn't panic, riot, or anything over-reactive like that.  Rescue crews working in the buildings even after the second plane hit, and the buildings began to fall, churches of all denominations bringing their people together in prayer. This is what being a country is about. We have passed our test. Let's just hope we can end it swiftly.
