Hobbies and Interests
I guess one could say I’m a “Tomboy” of sorts. When I was younger I preferred tree houses over Barbie dolls. Now that I’ve grown up, at least in theory, I prefer hiking boots over dress shoes and I love the great outdoors . . . canoeing, whitewater rafting, rollerblading, swimming, cross-country skiing, hiking, and camping. Perhaps my fondness for the outdoors is the result of spending my childhood playing in the dirt with my older brother and his friends. Of course my Dad encouraged my “Tomboy” behavior by teaching me all about car maintenance and repair. By the age of 17, I could change my oil and tires, jumpstart my car, and check my fluids in record time. Unfortunately, this was mostly because I was driving an older car that required me to perform these duties on a regular basis. If you ever see an ‘84 Buick with a hanger for an antennae, no hood ornament, an air conditioner that doesn’t work, a heater that turns on only in the summer, and an engine that burns two gallons of gas per mile, look for me in the driver seat.
Besides my car and the great outdoors, I enjoy all genres of music: from Bach to the Beatles, from Sinatra to Sublime. As long as the lyrics don’t offend me, I’m willing to listen to it.
Community service, church, and academics dominate the rest of my time. As you probably read in the professional portion of my homepage, academics and community service are at the top of my list of priorities. They are, however, ranked below my relationship with God and my relationship with my family and friends.
