Lincoln Donates Land for
Shelter
At a special meeting on November 1, 1999 the
Lincoln Village Council approved a zoning
variance, to allow the Lincoln Downtown
Development Authority to donate a 1.6 acre
parcel of land to the newly formed Alcona
Humane Society. The land will be the site of
the society's building. The building was
designed by one of our members and construction will
begin in the fall of 2000. When
completed the 2,150-square-foot building will
house a minimum of 30 animals at any one
time. It will include stainless steel cages
and a special ventilation system for the
animals, along with public reception, meeting
and office areas.
