Cast
This movie takes fifteen years after the original series episode "Space Seed". Khan escapes his exile by stealing the U.S.S. Reliant and goes hunting for Kirk and an experimental project called the Genesis Device. Meanwhile, Kirk celebrates a birthday and takes a shipload of Starfleet cadets on a training cruise on board an aging U.S.S. Enterprise. After recieving a distress call from Space Lab Regula I by his old flame Carol Marcus, Kirk assumes command and goes to assist. While enroute, his bumps into Khan they engage into battle. Kirk wins by outsmarting him. The Enterprise "limps" on over the lab and Kirk, McCoy, and Saavik beam over. While on board the station, the landing party finds most of the scientists there dead and the rest missing. They also found Chekov, former Enterprise officer, and Reliant Capt. Terrell on board. When they find the transporter, they find that the rest of the scientists beamed down into the lifeless planetiod. They follow them down and Kirk gets attacked by his son David, Carol's son also. At the same time, Terrell and Chekov draw Phasers on the rest and Kirk discovers that they were working for Khan. Khan steals the Genesis Device and orders Terrell to kill Kirk. When Terrell resisted, he screamed out in pain and killed himself. Chekov also sreamed out in pain, but he collapsed. Kirk then discovers that he was being controlled when a worm crawls out of his ear. After waiting for a while, everyone beams on board the Enterprise. Kirk then lures Khan and the Reliant into a nebula and they face off for a final battle. Kirk ends up winning, but Khan detonates the Genesis Device and kills himself. Spock sacrifices himself and saves the Enterprise by making it possible for her to escape. It resulted in his death. At the end, Kirk performs a ceremony for Spock and he was shot out into space in a photon tube. The Enterprise then sets course to Rescue the real Reliant crew.
