Cast

The fifth installment of the Star Trek franchise. It takes place 100 years before James T. Kirk and the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701. There is no Federation. This Enterprise, registry NX-01, is Earth's first deep space vessel to go warp five. The people of Earth decide to go into space despite the attempts of the Vulcans to slow them down. However, since the Enterprise is going to fly with or without Vulcan consent, they agree to join them. This Enterprise is under the command of Captain Jonathan Archer. He is considered as a Space Cowboy and womanizer (alas James T. Kirk). He can't wait to get into deep space. His first officer is Vulcan Sub Commander T'Pol. She was sent along in this mission to observe. The Chief Engineer is Cmdr. Charles "Trip" Tucker III. Tactical Officer is Lt. Malcolm Reed. His a brit with an itchy trigger finger. He loves to "blow stuff up." Communications Officer is Ensign Hoshi Sato. Since universal translators are fairly new, they are not reliable. Ensign Sato is capable of learning any language within minutes and will be very handy to Capt. Archer and the crew. Enterprise Helmsman is Ensign Travis Mayweather. Although he is the youngest officer on the ship, but he is one of the most experienced in space flight. He was born on an earth frieghter. Finally, there is Enterprise's Chief Medical Officer Dr. Phlox. His past is virtually unknown. His species is even unknown.

Even though the crew of the Enterprise will meet some races for the that have been seen in other series', this is almost like first contact since it's 100 years before Kirk. Technology from Kirk's Enterprise is considered WAY advanced compared to this 22nd Century version. There are phase guns instead of phasers. Since there are no shields, the hull is super-reenforced. Grappling hooks instead of tractor beams. Old fashioned torpedoes instead of Photon Torpedoes (imagine a submerine torpedo designed to fly in space and there you go). All computer terminals and panels are more hands-on (like buttons and switches). The helm control is very hands on (console has a steering wheel).
