Chapter Two

Usagi was practicing her plies in her dorm, trying to get them to look as perfect as her releves, when she heard a commotion outside. She yanked open the window and looked below. It was noting more than a toppled bakery truck-all over the Lincoln Plaza.

The driver was yelling at a kid holding his bike near to him. He must have been the one to cause the accident. Usagi thought back to when she could eat anything she wished: chocolate, ice cream, and cookies. It all seemed like ages ago. Now she was on a strict diet. No more fast food, no more greasy pizza. Tomatoes and broccoli were now treasured food items.

She shut the window and glanced at her radio clock. Quarter till three, on a Sunday-the only day SAB did not have classes. Maybe she and Demitri could catch the five o'clock matinee together. It was worth a try. Usagi pulled out her favourite pair of jeans and a green tee-shirt. Feeling the need for something different, she twisted her hair into a flip and left the dorm.

Demitri's room was empty, or he must have been sleeping, for there was no answer at the door. Usagi thought of the student lounge and food court and raced down the hall.

She waltzed into the lounge seeing Demitri flipping through the channels on a television. He looked very bored-it was the perfect time to rescue him. "Demitri!" Usagi made her entrance known.

"Oh there you are, Usagi," Demitri dropped the remote and walked over to her. "I was looking for you earlier."

"Really?" Usagi tried to sound professional, but inside, her heart was jumping out of her chest with joy. "Sundays are slow for me."

Demitri nodded, waiting for her to continue.

"Want to see a movie?" Usagi asked him, her eyes hopeful. "I'll pay for everything." She reassured him.

"Are you asking me on a date?" Demitri's face broke into a smile. "Of course. I'd love to come." He put his arm around her as they exited through the lounge.

Skipping the snack bar, the two walked into the darkened theater. Even with walking from SAB, they had missed the coming attractions-Usagi's favourite part of seeing a movie. Demitri of course made up for everything.

The cinema was packed. Demitri picked out a pair of seats in the back. "Hope this'll work for today." He whispered to her.

Usagi could only smile, even though she knew he could not see her happiness, she was sure that internally, he knew it was there.

"That was interesting." Were the only words that came out of Demitri's mouth. "I think it only suits the film."

"Yes." Usagi agreed as they entered the food court of SAB. She stepped up to the refrigerator unit and took out some strawberry yogurt.

Demitri juggled a salad in one hand while helping Usagi with the refrigerator door. "I thought ballet was suppose to help with this kind of stuff!" He spit out the words just as Usagi tripped over his foot and fell along side Demitri's Caesar.

"So much for that great idea!" Usagi grumbled as Demitri picked her up.

They decided against getting dinner-it would be too embarrassing to have their tickets stamped twice in one evening.

Demitri once again stopped at Usagi's dorm. "Do you have a roommate yet?" He asked her politely.

"Not yet," She fiddled with her keys trying to take more time in finding the correct one. "but there is suppose to be someone coming for the winter term this year."

"Oh." There was disappointment in his voice. "I'll see you tomorrow in our pas de deux class then." He paused. "I don't have a partner yet…"

Usagi smiled. "You do know." She gave him a kiss on the cheek just as her door was opened.

"Who the hell are you?" Another student with long black hair and stunning green eyes was in the doorway wearing nothing but a towel around herself.

"Wrong room." Demitri grabbed Usagi and pulled her down the hallway. The two giggled till dawn.
