Serena walked slower then usual with a gloomy expression on her face and a drape on her normal perky atmosphere. Lita walked on her right side rubbing her shoulders assuring her friend that she was there. Mina walked on the left side spending the entire time in deep thought as to how to get Serena happy again. Both were sure that the mark left behind of a certain somebody's hand wasn't helping the matter. When they reached the steps to the temple Serena straightened up and tried her best to stop her silent crying. She finally succeeded to do so but soon after Rei caught sight of them and shouted, "Mina, Lita, Serena! Why are you guys so late! Ami and I have been waiting for two hou- -rs." She saw the expression on her friends face and without knowing what why she was upset she felt immediately felt ashamed. Serena broke down into loud sobs on the ground while Mina and Lita shot death glares at Rei. " Uh. . . guys? What happened?" Mina sighed, " It's a long story but. . ." and she proceeded to tell the story. " Oh my poor Serena who could do that?" Luna asked. "Well, we can talk about this later but right now our first priority is Serena." said Ami. Lita nodded, " She's right but look. We need to use your spare bedroom, Rei." Indeed Serena had fallen asleep
Serena woke up around 11:30 the next morning. *I guess they called my parents* she thought. She eventually wondered into Rei's room where everyone else was discussing something she couldn't hear; but when they saw her they immediately stopped and rushed over to her asking questions like, "Are you alright?" "How are you feeling?" and "Do you know who that jerk was? I'll cream him!"(A.N. I'll give you 3 guesses who said that) Once she calmed them all down she started, "Yes, I'm fine I'm feeling much better now. And no I don't know who that *man* was" she was sure to emphasize the hatred in the word man. " I better get going now though, thanks everyone." She soon left her friends and was on her way home and was so deep in thought that she didn't realize that she was walking faster and turning corners sharper then she meant to and was soon on the ground. "Oh no no no no! Not Again!" she whispered to herself over and over again. "Hey Meatbal– er Serena." Darien said reaching out his hand to help her up; but neither noticed that he was standing on an ice patch so when she grabbed his hand they both slipped, fell and began to laugh. A little while later Darien had decided to walk Serena home and before they knew it they were at the corner of her street. " Darien? You better turn back or my dad might see you." "Ok see you later Serena." said Darien who had been informed of her dad's over protectiveness on the way. "Darien? Why are you being so nice?" "Well, Andrew said that if I don't stop making fun of you he'll kill me, besides it's Christmas right?" he shrugged. Serena giggled and hugged him, " Thanks Darien, you've made me feel a lot better!" "My pleasure milady."he said faking a bow. They laughed and parted ways. *It sure is nicer to have him as a friend then an enemy* Serena thought as she walked in the door to her home. " Mom, dad I'm home!" she shouted. "Welcome home darling!" said her mother walking out of the kitchen with her arms wide open. Serena ran into them and got the hint "There's something for you in your room." with that she tore up the stairs and on her bed was a box with a red rose on it. She picked it up as though it was a treasure, "It's to pretty to open." she said to herself. "Well half the fun of a gift is to see what's inside." said her mother. Serena jumped, " I didn't know you were there" "Well go on open it" Serena sat on her bed and carefully opened the gift and took out a note and a crystal partridge on a tree. "Well it looks like someone has a crush on my little girl" and with that she winked and closed her daughter's door. All Serena could do for a second was stare then she picked up the note. It read:
My Dear Serena,
I happened to hear that little comment you made about men yesterday and I intend to prove you wrong at least about me.
"On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me. . . a partridge in a pear tree"
*What the heck was that?* Serena wondered. The rest of that day went normal, wit the exception of her mother winking at all through dinner. By Sunday she had forgotten about it until the minister held her after church and gave her another gift with another rose on it from an "unknown source"as he put it. She slipped the gift in her jacket and when her family questioned her about what the minister wanted she simply waved it off. When she got home she went to her room and locked the door. She then opened the gift inside was another note and two porcelain turtle doves.
Dearest Serena,
I doubt this can make up for the pain caused to you the other day. Hope you like it.
"On the second day of Christmas my true love gave to me two turtle doves and a partridge in a pear tree."
"Where is that coming from?" she asked herself.
The next day at school on her desk was yet another gift, and when she entered the room she was hounded by her friends to open it. So she did and inside was a note and 3 hens( one was sapphire, one emerald, and one ruby.) She then read the note only loud enough for her friends to hear.
"Lovely Serena,
Third day now I don't know if you have forgiven mankind yet. I hop you like these as well and will put them with the others."
As soon as finished she was thrown about in a sea of questions, "What does he mean the others?"
"Do you know who it is?" and "How romantic is that?" Serena told the about the other gifts and their contents and by the time she finished they all had dreamy I-wish-it-was-me looks on their faces.
"On the third day of Christmas my true love gave to me 3 french hens, 2 turtle doves and a partridge in a pear tree"
Serena gave an inward moan just as the principle walked in. "Students, Ms. Hanarua (A.N. did I spell it right?) has quit so your new teacher should be arriving shortly. Just remain seated." and with that she left. About three minutes later the door opened but before any of the class could see the new teacher . . . "YOU!!!!!!!" shouted Serena, Lita, Mina, and the teacher.
Author's Note: I wonder who it could be. Will the mysterious gift giver ever step forward? And for heaven's sake! Will Serena ever find out who is singing those darned songs? Questions and Comments can reach me at Flowergirl603554@aol.com
