Chapter Five

When I awoke I was feeling fine, but suddenly frightening images began to flash before my eyes. Were they memories I wondered? How could I have ever seen anything that gruesome. I saw a red oak door, then all of a sudden I was walking by some rooms in a hallway, the lights were off. I entered a room to the left, then a terrible image flashed before me, a young blonde haired woman walked into the room and screamed. I looked in the same direction as she did and woke up, but not before I saw what made the young woman scream. A tall brunette lay on the floor, she had on a black dress skirt, with a white apron attached over it, she was lying on her back her face was covered with blood and her eyes were glazed. She was dead. I sat up sweating, and ran to the bathroom down the hall. I took a cold shower and put on a new T-shirt and a pair of khaki shorts. I walked down the hall for the second time since I'd been found. I had been showered and clothed and had lain in bed since then. I reached the kitchen, it had to be the kitchen because there was a stove and a new machine called a microwave over it. I went over to the table and sat down dejectedly. How could I lose my memory and why, sometimes I remembered short periods of time that must have been memories of my life. Once I saw a group of children playing in a meadow, they looked so carefree, one had brown hair tied up in a ponytail, another was gorgeous with blonde hair tied up in two rounded pigtails that looked like meatballs. The one that attracted my attention was a young boy who sat under a tree reading a book, he had sky blue eyes, dark hair and a dark complexion. He was handsome, but I had the strangest feeling of déjà vu' during the whole vision. What did it mean, were they my friends, why did that young man sit alone and why did I feel so sympathetic toward him? So many questions and no answers! I was so frustrated I could strangle something. Maybe eventually I could piece together the mystery of my former life, as long as I kept describing my visions and dreams in my diary, maybe they would fit together somehow and clear up my amnesia, if that was possible. ~Oh stop dreaming Endy, just give it up you'll never know, you might as well just forget your old life and get used to the new one you have, don't waste this one obsessed by the other~ He heard footsteps on the linoleum behind him but didn't turn around.

"Well, I see that you're up and around, finally" said Mrs. Cunningham

"Yes ma'am, thank you for your hospitality and the new clothes."

"Oh, think nothing of it young man, you may stay with us for as long as you like."

"No no, I couldn't just impose on you hospitality, but thank you for the offer."

"Wait just a minute, first what is your name, second I would like to adopt you informally as my son and third have you met my daughter?.

"First I don't remember my real name so I decided my new name is Endymion, second I would love to be your son and third, no I have not yet had the pleasure of meeting your daughter."

"What a polite young man you are Endymion. That is a fine name, strange but it does sound nice. Now, what would you like for breakfast this morning?"

"Oh, thank you do you have bacon?"

"Of course we have bacon, you can have eggs and hashbrowns with that if you'd like. I'll just fix you a meal and you can go to the library and pick up my newest book. You can rent one if you'd like , now let me see to your breakfast."

~

I headed off to the library feeling wonderful, I had a new family, the perfect thing to start off my new life.
