Mr. Robert Hoffmeyer was a devoted member who dedicated more than 40 years of his life to the service of the German Shorthaired Pointer Michigan Club and to the German Shorthaired Pointer Breed. Bob played a pivotal role with unwavering dedication, commitment, and leadership, and was instrumental in shaping the club's success.

As a testament to his dedication, Bob served in various capacities, including President of the Club for over 20 years. His professionalism, calm demeanor, and wisdom earned him respect and admiration from fellow members.


One of Bob's most notable achievements was organizing the Club's first Sanctioned Hunting Test. Approved by the American Kennel Club on August 27th, 1985. He arranged for the test to take place on September 22nd, 1985, at Highland Recreation Area in Highland, Michigan, and today these tests still continue each year. Bob was also instrumental in bringing to the Club the GSPCA Water Ratings test. Bob was instrumental in managing these two events each year since their beginnings. Bob was involved in every aspect of the Club. Wherever his help was needed, he was there.


Ranger

Bob's love for the breed and the club was evident in his passion for hunting with his dogs. He produced and owned many exceptional German Shorthaired Pointers, One of his eariest was Pinnacles Dandy Danny Boy from the old Feldstrom line, and many others, Hunting titled and Champions of record.

Bob also supported the Highland Field Trial Grounds Association, located in Highland Michigan always making sure our Hunting dogs had a nice running area. On Silo and Barn course. Bob helped other Clubs as well. Sometimes as Judge or just lend a hand. He helped with Judge Seminars, Walking Trials, Field Trials, Shows, Fun Hunting Events, Picnics, Banquets, and any time Bob could lend a hand. He was there.

Bob was also responsible for reviving the Michigan Clubs Water Ratings Test sponsored by the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of America. Bob always stepped up to support his fellow club members and the Abilities of such a fine Versatile Hunting dog. The German Shorthaired Pointer.

Bob was an avid Hunter. Bob passed in December 2024, The German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Michigan has lost a true leader, a person of wisdom, and a devoted dog enthusiast. Bob's legacy will be deeply missed, but his contributions to The AKC Breed Club of Michigan and German Shorthaired Pointer will continue to inspire future generations.
