"A White Rose, A Red Rose" - Chapter 3 by Miaka Rated PG Hello again! Welcome to the next chapter of my story! I like this part if I don't say so myself, I call it "Enter the Star Locket". If you can't tell I am just a tad hyper right now, so you can decide if that is good or bad. Either way it affects how and what I write. Anyhow I really don't know what to do . . . . . . . . Oh, and this chapter is really short due to the fact I thought it was so special . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . OK, I admit it, this story is really sappy but for all you people who are coming to "A Sailor Moon Romance" to find sappy stories about Usagi and Mamoru, you have come to the right story! Just wait until they actually meet! I have a tendency to think that guys are LOW (probably because I have two brothers although there are some GREAT guys out there, like Tamahome, Tooya, Nuriko, Trunks, Mamoru, The list goes on) so I am going to have fun with humiliating Mamoru just a bit, don't worry though, 'cause I love him to. Disclaimers: Same as the other ones. Check out Chapter 2's disclaimer, I liked that one. "A White Rose, A Red Rose" - Chapter 3 "Usa, Usa! Wake up!" Mamoru screamed "Mamochan, the sun has not even risen yet and you want me to get out of bed, go to sleep!" a groggy female voice answered. "Usa, GET UP!!! The reason it is before sunrise is because we always watch the sunrise together on this day of the year, and this is our tenth anniversary." "Aggggggggghhhhhhhhh! I can not believe that I could have forgotten." Usagi screamed as she jumped out of bed. "Usagi, you didn't forget, you were the one who reminded me yesterday." Usagi giggled. "Of course Mamochan, now ready to watch the sunrise?" "Anything for you Usa. Are you in a place that you can see the East?" "Mamochan, we go over this every year, my bedroom faces East, so of course I can see the East. Are you in a place where YOU can see the sunrise?" "As always." The two sat and watched as the sun came over the horizon in a display of brilliant colours. It seemed that this sunrise was especially beautiful, maybe it was because of the feelings rushing through the two's hearts, or maybe it was that the sunrise was more beautiful that usual. Reds and Pinks shot through the sky and light illuminated the horizon. Usagi was almost sure that she hear the crack of dawn. Slowly the sun peeked over the mountain tops and smiled back at them. Over the ten years that the two had really gotten to know each other, the bond that the two held had changed and deepened so that they had almost complete control over it. No longer were there any slips into each others mind on accident, they were both matured and in full reign of the power that the bond held, and they both respected the other. Even though they could easily look and see what the other was thinking they withheld and let the other tell them what they pleased. They were content just to feel the other's presence. When the sun had climbed higher into the sky Usagi sat bolt upright "Mamochan, what time is it?" "Well considering the height of the sun in the sky, and the amount of time that we have been sitting here, I would say that it is maybe 8:30" "ACK! I am so late for breakfast! Mother is going to kill me! So talk to you later, K?" As Usagi got up and ran from her bedroom down the hall toward the breakfast room, she heard Mamoru laughing. "And what, pray tell, are you laughing at?" Usagi said with mock seriousness, her face breaking out into a grin. "Only that you are now over thirteen years of age and you are still running down the halls like you did when you were three." "But I am late for breakfast, and you know who's fault that is? Yours. If you did not keep me talking so long I would not have to run to breakfast each morning. Every one thinks just that I get up late and that I'm lazy, but no, I am always talking to you." "Usa, did you ever consider that ever since we started these early morning sessions I have been late for breakfast as well?" "Oh my goodness, I am so sorry, I never meant to make you late for breakfast! I truly did not mean to! Oh no, how can I ever repay you . . . I wake you up when the morning star is in the sky and then keep you from eating, I feel terrible. . . Maybe we should stop talking in the mornings." Usagi finished the last part with sadness filling every corner of her voice. She truly loved waking him in the morning and hearing him grumble about the hour. She loved talking to him before every one else was up and making her plans for the day, and now it was all going to stop, she could not bear to get him in trouble, and it was all her fault. "Usa, I love it when you wake me up in the morning. I like your cheerful voice being the first thing that I hear. I would rather be late for breakfast the rest of my life than miss having a morning to talk with you," Mamoru told her gently. Usagi felt her cheeks redden 'Oh my, why am I blushing! I never blush! This is Mamochan, Usagi, Mamochan, your best friend! Why are you blushing and your insides fluttering?' 'Because you are head over heals in love with him,' came her answer from somewhere deep inside herself. Usagi knew it was true. She had been falling in love with him for years and had never even realized it, and now, well now, she loved him more than life itself. 'And the red rose proves it. When he sent the rose he meant it to be white, but it came red. My love for him changed it.' She had looked up the meaning of a red rose soon after she had received it and found what it meant. 'The red stands for passionate, undying love, but doesn't that mean I am destined to love him forever?' Usagi thought to herself. "Mamochan that was very sweet of you to say, but if you don't mind, we had better both get to breakfast or we will get in a LOT of trouble." Usagi laughed as she said it and Mamoru laughed with her. "But Usa, don't forget that you promised to watch the sunset with me as well." "I would never forget to spend time with you!" With that both then took off running toward the dinning hall where breakfast awaited them. @--<--<--- "Are you ready?" "Of course, I would not miss this for the world," Usagi smiled. It had been a good day, starting with Mamochan, having good lessons, and now ending with Mamochan. Usagi leaned over the rail of the balcony willing the sunset to be spectacular. She heard Mamoru sigh gently. Usagi could feel his contentment and happiness flowing through her and loved the feeling. She wondered slightly how it would feel to be watching the sunset in his arms but quickly erased the thoughts, he might hear them after all. Unbeknownst to her Mamoru was also daydreaming. 'To hold her in my arms and feel her joy as she watched the sun set . . .' he thought happily. 'Someday, someday my wish will come true; I can feel it!' 'But first you have to meet her and tell her how you feel' another voice in his head put in. "Momochan, don't you think it is beautiful?" Usagi asked in a whisper snapping him out of his daydream. "Uh, um, you mean the sunset? It is one of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen," came his stumbled reply The sunset truly was stunning. Rich colours shot across the sky slowing getting dimmer while the sun itself glowed a gentle red foretelling that the next day was to be a pleasant one. The pair watched the sun finish setting in silence, enjoying the moment. But even after the last beam of its light was gone, the two stayed where they were. It was not until the moon was high in the sky that Mamoru broke their silent reverie and said "Usa, I have a gift for you. I was reading a history book and found a passage that was more like a spell than anything. It said that when there are two people with a bond close enough to feel each others emotions and their energy colours are silver and gold then they can create this special item. It has only been done by one other couple, according to the book. So I thought that since that description fits us perfectly, we should try it." "Well, what would the item be?" Even while asking the question Usagi knew that she really did not care what the item was, if he asked her to she would do whatever he wanted. "The item is a locket, a very special locket. It can be shaped into what ever we might want and it only opens to the touch of the two who created it and plays music according to the feelings of the person holding it," Mamoru told her, praying silently that she would like it. "Oh, I would love to do it, but only on one condition. You have to pick what the locket is to look like. I want it to be a surprise." Momoru laughed. It was just like her to make him decide, he had been hoping that she would pick something. "So what do we do?" Usagi asked, bringing him back to the matter at hand. "I need you to concentrate on pouring your energy into me, and then when I give you the signal I need you to hold out your hands to accept the locket." "What is the signal?" "You will know it when it comes, so don't worry." Usagi smiled her excitement mounting. She adored surprises and knew that he knew it. Closing her eyes Usagi concentrated on pouring her energy into him. If she had opened her eyes she would have seen herself begin to glow silver, but as it was she was never to know. Mamoru felt Usagi's energy begin to pour into him and relished the feeling. Slowly he begin to mix his energy with hers and was mildly surprised at how compatible they seemed to be. It was not often that two entirely different types of energy could mix as well as theirs, but then again they were almost the same person so they would have to be. Mamoru began to shape the energy carefully with his mind picturing exactly how he wanted it and then began to send the product to Usagi's outstretched hands. Usagi could feel him take her energy and mix it with his own. She held out her hands just when he began to send the locket to her. Opening her eyes she looked at her hands and gasped. Gold and silver energy swirled gently creating patterns in the air. Slowly the energy began to gather and take on a shape. Just when the last energy was about to gather there was a sharp blast of light and then the locket lay in her cupped hands. Slowly she began to examine the gift, it was shaped like a star, the morning star to be exact. Usagi laughed lightly. "Mamochan, it's the morning star, why?" "I wanted it to be something that we share even though we never see each other, and you always wake me just before the morning star disappears. Do you like it?" he asked, hoping that she would understand what he meant by giving it to her. "I love it!" Usagi cried out happily. Carefully she reached out and touched the lid and it opened gently. A soft sweet melody filled the air. "Mamochan, can you hear it?" Usagi whispered so softly he almost did not catch her words. Closing his eyes he consentrated on her hearing and the music began to flood his senses. "I hear it . . ." came an almost inaudible reply. Once again the two remained as they were, listening to their locket. They would have stayed as they were most likely all night had it not been that Usagi glanced down at herself and found that she was glowing with a soft silvery gold light. Hearing her inhale sharply Mamoru asked "Usa, what is the matter?" concern filling his voice. "Mamochan, are you glowing?" came a shaky reply. Looking down at himself he was startled to find that he was, but it was not the usual gold glow that he emitted when he healed himself or created a rose, it had a definite streak of silver in it. "I take it that you are glowing to?" "Yes, and it is not my usual glow, it has . . . " she started breathlessly Mamoru cut her off and finished her statement, "a definite streak of gold?" "How did you . . ." "My glow has silver in it, and it could only be your silver, so you have my gold, so to speak." Laughing, Usagi replied, "Keep it, it is bound to dissipate soon enough. If it even does anything, it will heal any possible wounds and make you feel stronger." "I suppose I must then let you keep mine as well," he said, faking a pouting voice. "Well even if you tried I would not let you have it back, so ha!" she said trying to sound malicious. "Very well, keep it if you feel that way." Both, not being able to keep up their acts burst out into laughter. When the mirth in the air settled a bit, Usagi reminded them both, "Mamochan, we have work tomorrow, and we need our sleep, besides if I don't go to sleep now, I won't be able to wake you in time to see the morning star." "Very well, my little Usa, we shall sleep. We should not miss the morning star. Sleep well my gentle rabbit." "And good night to you, my protector." @--<--<--- Mamoru waited until he felt her fully pull out of his mind and then carefully began to gather up the remainder of her silver energy into his hands. He was surprised at how well it responded to his will. Taking the energy into his hands he willed it to make a figurine of its owner. Slowly the energy began to swirl until it held the shape of a young girl. The girl wore a loose shirt and pants, denying him a good look at her form. A pair of glasses rested gently on her nose and he smiled at the innocence it added to her features. Her hair was bound about her head and he wondered how long it would have to be to wind it in that fashion. The figurine was silver, denying him the pleasure of seeing what colour her hair and eyes were, but he found it wonderful all the same. Carefully he sealed the energy to guard against the chance of it dissipating. Wondering what the real Usagi was doing he reached out with his mind to touch hers. He felt her sigh and reached a little further. She was listening to the locket. Setting the figurine by his night stand, he gazed at it, memorizing every detail, until he fell asleep only to dream that he was holding her in his arms. @--<--<-- Usagi sat in her room listening to the locket until she felt Mamoru drift off to sleep. Smiling she began to gather his energy to her. She loved the tingling that it left in her bones and wondered once again what it would be like to be held in his arms. Sighing she wondered what to do with the energy. After a while of thinking her face lit up. 'A blanket,' she thought happily. Slowly she stretched out the energy until it formed a soft golden blanket. 'If I can't be held in his arms, at least I can snuggle into his energy,' she giggled, joy filling her heart once again. Usagi contentedly brought the blanket close around her. She then fell asleep listening to the star locket, dreaming of being held in his arms. @--<--<--- End of Chapter 3 Soooooooooooooooo . . . whatdya think? I REALLY want to know.
