Endymion smiled as their swords clashed. "But last time you were nothing but a child." Kunzite said, clocking a thrust. A couple seconds later Kunzite lay in Endymion's left hand and pointed at his throat. "Now, you are a prince." Endymion smiled and handed Kunzite his sword. "Why thank you, General." He nodded. "Well I smell something delicious, let's go find out what it is." They walked back to the camp to see Avanla pouring soup into Jedeite's bowl. "Common boys, dinner time. Help yourself to some rabbit, compliments of Jedeite." Avanla said. Endymion grabbed a piece and ate it, sighing gleefully. "I take back everything I've said about you Jedeite, you're my favorite general now." Endymion said and they laughed. "Here Cairan." Endymion threw his big tiger a piece and it disappeared quickly. "Good boy. So, this place looks familar." "It should." Nephlite smiled. "It's Dragon's Lair, the place in your dreams." "Oooh." Endymion said. Suddenly there was a bright flash in the heavens, and then everything around them became very light. "Wha..what's happening?" "Look!" Zoisite shouted, pointing up to the sky. Everyone looked up to see the moon shinning brightly in the sky. "It's the eclipse!" Suddenly bright silver lights streaked through the sky, one landing only a distance away from them. "What was that?" Avanla asked. "It's a Lunarian! Common, let's go check it out!" Jedeite said, running into the woods with everyone following him. Endymion got a great sense of deja vu as Jedeite led them to a lake, with a waterfall in the distance. "Look!" Jedeite pointed over the lake. Endymion gasped at the site he saw. It was the angel from his dreams, positioned exactly as he remember her, her face upturned towards the two moons which had now seperated themselves. Someone made a noise and she turned her frightened eyes to them. Silver wings sprouted from her back and everyone gasped, besides Endymion. "She's royalty, and look at the size of them!" With one mighty flap she rose from the lakes surface and started flying away. "Wait, come back!" Endymion called after her. And this time, she stopped. Slowly the angel turned around and stared at Endymion, confused. Almost in an instant she hovered a couple feet away from him. Endymion was too surprised by the shock her eyes shot through him that he froze on the spot as she inched closer to him. "I know you." She finally spoke, her voice soft and melodious. Just like he had pictured it. "You were in my dreams." Endymion blinked surpised, and snapped out of his trance. "As you were in mine." Endymion said. "What's your name angel?" She blushed slightly and laughed. "My name is Serenity, and I'm not an angel." She replied. "What is yours?" "..Mamoru." Endymion hesitated, seeing no real reason to lie to her. She looked so innocent, especially with those lingering tears. "You don't want to be here do you?" Her eyes turned a darker shade of blue, and she looked up to the moon longingly. "I was in the palace because of the eclipse tonight, when the priests came into my room and dragged me outside. I was sucked down to the Earth by a moonbeam against my will, I..I don't know why they did such a thing! They betrayed me!" Serenity placed her head in her hands and began to weep. Something tugged at Endymion's heart and he slowly walked over and wrapped his arms around her, as she nestled into him. "It's okay, I'll protect you." Endymion cooed, rubbing her back. She looked up at him and smiled through her tears. "That's what your name means doesn't it? Protector?" She said. "Will you really protect me?" "I..I think I have to." Endymion said, staring into her eyes. "I feel, connected to you." "Me too." She said and then giggled. He smiled down at her and laughed along, while everyone stared at them with open mouths. "How...why...what...HUH!?" Jedeite gaped while Avanla just broke into a knowing smile. Serenity stood a distance off while the rest huddled around Endymion, discussing the newcomer. "I don't trust those Lunarians, all they want is our souls to feed off of." Zoisite said. "You of all people should now that Endymion." "But, but she's different..." Endymion sighed and looked to Avanla for help. "What do you sense, is there any evil in her?" Avanla sighed and squinted at Serenity's far off form. "Not one stinking bit. She's as pure as they come." She said and Endymion smiled. "But however, as pure as she is, she still needs a soul to feed off of. Or she will die and my guess is that she doesn't want to die. Do you want to risk all of the general's lives, plus yours for some fancy?" Endymion looked down to the ground and up to Serenity. "She not a fancy of mine. She was in my dreams so that means she's important to this mission somehow, she stays." Endymion said, looking back at them. "But--" "I am your prince!" He said strictly. "You will obey me! Understood?" Everyone bowed their heads and muttered a small yes. "Good." Endymion turned on his heels and walked towards Serenity, who was now sitting at the lakes shore. Her feet were dipped in, while she hugged her legs to her chest. She didn't looked up or even move when Endymion sat down next to her, only kept staring out over the lake to the setting moons. "I know how you feel." Endymion said and she turned to him, her eyes filled with bitter tears. "How could you?" She asked hoarsely. "Because, I was taken away from my world too. I didn't choose to be here, it just..happened." Endymion answered. "Really?" Serenity said, switching positions to face him. "Yes, but...I wouldn't want to go back to my world. My lonely blue and green marble." Endymion said, pointing up to the Earth. Serenity's eyes went wide as she followed his gaze. "You lived on the Earth? I always used to stand on my balcony and just wish I could visit it someday. What is it like?" She asked excitedly. "No place you want to be." Endymion answered, and her eyes turned downcast. "This place here, is a paradise. I'm glad I got stuck here, here in this dream world. Maybe someday you'll understand how wonderful it is here too." Serenity stared at him along time before smiling sadly. "I hope I do, because there's no way I can go back home now." She sighed. "Can't you just catch a moonbeam back up?" Endymion asked and she shook her head. "No, it's a one way ticket to your death." "What?" He asked confused. "I'm going to die in a matter of days Mamoru, because of who I am. I cannot, and I will not feed off of someone's soul...I'm going to die..." More tears began to course down her cheeks as Endymion wrapped his arm around her, bringing her close. "You are a real angel, Serenity." He smiled down at her and received a feeble one back. "I promise, you won't be alone. I'll be by your side." "Thank you." She said, resting her head on his shoulder. Avanla and the generals watched the two from a distance, a smile on Avanla and Kunzite's faces. However, the other's watched on unamused. "This is insane! She's going to suck the life out of him and then our mission goes down the drain!" Jedeite flung his arms in the air frustrated. "How can he be so blind?" Zoisite asked. "Because he's in love." Avanla smiled. "Common boys, time for bed." Avanla pushed the groaning generals back to the camp as she looked back at smiled at them one last time. The two sat by the lake for along time, as the moon and earth watched them from their position in the black sky, side by side. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* "So what exactly is your mission anyways?" Serenity asked as she sat infront of Endymion on his horse. They were traveling down a forest path to Govad, the place where they'd find the Wind Stone. "Well, we have to find all the Elemental Stones before the world is taken over by the NegaVerse." Endymion answered and she stiffened under his arms. "The NegaVerse." She whispered. "My mother has feared them for awhile. She won't even talk about them anymore. Where are we going?" "We are going to Govad." Avanla answered from beside them. "Where we'll find the Wind Stone we're looking for." "And...here it is." Zoisite sighed. Endymion looked up and gasped. Infront of them was a huge bubble of blackness among the trees. "What is that?!" Serenity yelled. "That is the Darkness, angel." Kunzite said. "It's consumed half of Govad already." Kunzite shook his head in disbelief. "Is that a bad thing?" Serenity asked. "Govad is right by Zion Hill, the place where the stones are found. Once that is consumed, all of Elysian will disappear." Kunzite answered. "Well, that's not good." Endymion sighed. "Nope." Avanla agreed. "Well, let's get on the move." "So do we have everything? Food, fire, weapons, more fire." Avanla listed. "Check, check check and check." Zoisite nodded. "Now when we go in there the world around us will be totally and utterly black, cold, and very unfriendly. Everyone stay close and make sure you keep your torches lit." Kunzite said. "Why?" Serenity asked. "Because if you don't, the Shadows will get you." Jedeite answered. "The Shadows?" Endymion repeated. "The Shadows are evil creatures found only in the darkness. No one knows what they look like so we call them Shadows. Any kind of light can destroy them, so that's why we need the torches. The weapons are for the Arachnids." "Let me guess, they're huge spiders aren't they?" Endymion said, feeling his stomach begin to turn. "You got it buddy." Zoisite patted him on the shoulder. "I. hate. spiders." Endymion moaned. "Especially ones that are bigger than me." "Well, we can't turn back or we condemn the rest of Elysian to The Darkness' fate." Avanla pointed out. "But you don't have to go Serenity." Nephlite offered, but she just shook her head. "I'm going to die soon anyways, so what's the point?" She said. "Alright then." Endymion said, sucking in a breath. He stood right by the blackness, and with one step would be in its realm. He sighed, taking in another breath before nodding. "Let's go." He took the step and plunged into the bubble, feeling the coldness against his skin. Going through the barrier looked like a wall of glass was being broken around him. Finally he broke through and was instantly shrouded in a cloak of coldness and shivered. But not from the cold, but from the amount of evil and death he felt lingering in the air. He found it hard to breath and realized the truth of Avanla's words. 'The Darkness is not an it, it's a thing. It's alive, it lives and breathes on the dreams that aren't dreamt anymore. When you walk in there, you're not just walking into something dark, you're walking into something evil.' *Why am I here again!* Endymion thought desperately as he turned to see the others coming through. "Wow..." Avanla whistled. "Hey Nephlite, can you see anything?" "As a matter of fact I can, just like it was twilight." Nephlite replied and then scrunched his eyebrows. "Just like I can see that Arachnid over there!" "Where!" Zoisite screamed, huddling behind him. Nephlite burst out laughing, trying to hold his tears back. "I'm just joking! You should've seen your face!" He smiled as Zoisite punched him in the arm. "That was so not funny!" Zoisite hissed. "Guys, shut up!" Avanla ordered, putting her finger to her lips. "We don't want to attract any unnecassary attention here." "Sorry." They mumbled. "So where do we go Avanla?" Kunzite asked as she looked around. "Well, umm, you see..." Avanla sputtered, scratching her head. "I really don't know." "You're supposed to be the guide!" Endymion exclaimed. "I know, but everything's DARK!" She whined. "Neph, what can you see?" "Well, I see a huge boulder right infront of us and three mountain peaks out over there." Nephlite squinted, pointing to the right of them. "And to our left is a small stream." "Okay, is there a huge clump of trees on the closest mountain?" Avanla asked, pulling out her map. "Umm, no there isn't." Nephlite responded. "Okay I know where we are, but that still doesn't help us really. We don't know exactly where the Wind Stone is." Avanla sighed, blowing her hair out of the way. "Well, where on that map are the Anemone Fairies located?" Zoisite spoke up. "Everywhere! But I know from school that they're centered around the middle of Govad." Avanla said. "So I guess we should start there, common!" The group started walking, staying as close as possible. Suddenly a high shrill sound echoed through the land and everyone jumped. Serenity grabbed onto Endymion's arm tightly, shivering from fear. "It's okay Serenity, we'll be fine." Endymion smiled, although very unsure himself. She looked up at him and smiled back weakly. "I do have my protector, my Mamo-chan." She said as Jedeite rolled his eyes. "Gag me." He whispered. They walked for a good while, getting used to the shrill screams they heard every once in awhile. Suddenly, it started to rain hard, foreboding drops upon their torches, trying to snuff out their only protection from the shadows. "NO!" Kunzite yelled frustrated, trying to hide his torch under his cape. "Just what we need!" Endymion just held his torch out, shaking his head in disbelief. "I'm going to get eaten by something I can't see." He sighed, shutting his eyes. "I'm sorry Serenity." "I'm going to die anyways remember?" She said. But suddenly let go of his arm and walked to the front of the group. "But that doesn't mean you have to." Their fire was completely gone now and they began to hear hisses and snarls surrounding them. "Nephlite.." Avanla whimpered, drawing close to her brother. He looked around and his eyes became large at the creatures he alone could see. "Oh my..." He whispered, burying his head in Avanla's hair. "Just close your eyes Ava, just close your eyes." Everything became still as Jedeite felt breathing down his neck, and held back a cry of horror in his throat. "It was nice knowing you guys." Endymion said as he felt something touch his leg. Suddenly a light exploded above them and the Shadows disintagrated into dust with shrill screams of pain. They all looked up, momentarily blinded, to see Serenity floating in the air, pure white light pouring off of her like flames. Her wings were spread wide and beat slowly, keeping her afloat in the air. "Serenity?" Endymion questioned. "She's so powerful." Zoisite marveled with his mouth open. "Common, I can keep this up for about 2 more hours." Serenity finally spoke up, turning to them. They continued on, with Serenity flying above them. "What are we looking for again?" Serenity sighed, her wings started to sag and her light becoming dimmer. They had been walking for an hour, with no sign of the Anemone Fairies. "I don't know how much longer I can keep this up." Suddenly something came down upon the group, toppling Endymion and Nephlite to the ground. They were huge spiders, four in number and 6 feet in length. Endymion rolled along with the spider, trying to keep its vicious fangs away from him. The others fought against the third one while Nephlite peirced his sword through the one attacking him, green blood oozing onto his shirt. Zoisite wrapped his whip around the third while Kunzite flung a bright purple arrow through its heart. Cairan swatted at the forth, ripping it apart with his massive claws. "Help!" They turned to see Endymion being dragged into the darkness by the last Arachnid. "Mamoru!" Serenity shouted. Kunzite advanced towards him, but Serenity's voice stopped him. "No Kunzite, don't leave the protection of my light!" So they watched helplessely as their prince was dragged into the darkness, his yells for help unable to be answered. "No..." Avanla moaned, dropping to the ground. Cairan nestled next to her, rubbing his head under her jaw. "It's all over now..." Endymion slipped back into consciousness, although his eyes were too slugish to open. Though faintly he could hear the crackling of fire and the slight tapping of water against a rock. He tried to move his arm but found both of them bound to his side by a cloth surrounding his body. By this time he forced his eyes open slowly and blinked, letting them adjust to their surroundings. A grey and black cave came into view with a dim fire filtering through the room. Infront of him was a natural window, the black of The Darkness shinning into it. Suddenly he heard something stir beside him and looked to his left. A man was wrapped up in a white coccoon, his face the only thing left uncovered. Endymion looked to his right to see two more people, a man and a woman. The one on the far end began to stir as the ones besides Endymion turned to watch as well. Suddenly from the man's stomach a leg protruded from him, blood splattering to the floor. Out from him the Arachnid crawled out, turning towards Endymion for a second before it started to eat the body it had come from. Endymion had to turn away, too disgusted to look anymore. He didn't think he could possibly hate spiders more than he did now. "That's what is going to happen to us next." The woman said from beside him, crying hysterically. "She'll come down from her web and lay her egg in one of us..it's over! Oh Elios, why aren't you protecting us!?..WHY!?!" Endymion tuned out her anguished cries, feeling sorrow that he could not help her, or even help himself. The sorrowful group trudged on through the darkness, Serenity's wings sagging even more to the ground. They had reached the center of Govad where they were most likely to find the Wind Stone they so desperately needed. "Guys, look!" Jedeite yelled, pointing infront of them. There infront of them floated two beautiful women. They were only two feet tall, but fully grown and sparkling with a glinted silver glow. Silver-white hair adorned their heads and swam down their bodies, ending at their bare feet. Their spaghetti strap, pure white dresses hung losely about them and ended a little past their knees. They turned towards the group, a little startled at Serenity's light. "Please don't run!" Avanla cried desperately, dropping to her knees. "We need your help!" The two looked at each other unsure, before one floated up to Avanla and touched her cheek. "What's the matter little one?" She asked kindly, her voice like a whisper in the wind. "We need to find the Wind Stone, do you know where it is?" Kunzite asked for Avanla, who was too distraut at the moment. The women looked at each other again, before the other one nodded. "Yes we do." She answered. "Follow us, and you can stop your light now. We will protect you." "Thank you." Serenity sighed, falling to the ground. Kunzite helped support her as her light dimmed. They walked only a short distance before they came upon a cave hidden behind a waterfall. They walked through the cool waters, reveling in the relief it brought them. They walked to the center of the cave where a table was located in the middle with a box in its center. "That is the Wind Stone and we are its guardians." One said. "What is your need for our precious stone?" Asked the other. "We need it to save the world!" Avanla exclaimed and grabbed the other stones from her satchel. "We have the Earth and Fire Stone, and now we need this one." "We see." They said at once and walked to the table. Their hands began to glow and the lid lifted, a circular yellow stone arising from it. It floated over slowly to Avanla's awaiting hands. "Take it and go save your prince." "You know where Endymion is?" Avanla lifted her head up hopefully. "Endymion?" Serenity asked confused. "The prince is with Queen Arachnia herself." They answered. "Let the Anemone Fairies be your guide to him." "I don't think I can handle anymore." Serenity sighed. "You don't have to." One smiled, poiting to the stones. "Let the fire stone be your light." "Now go." They said. "You haven't much time." Meanwhile not far away, Endymion stood in his prison of spun silk, his heart pounding with every noise he heard. The woman beside him had finally stopped sputtering uncontrolably and he had had an interesting conversation about the different kinds of fruits he'd miss when he was dead. Suddenly the woman beside him started to screamed again and Endymion sighed, annoyed. "Listen lady-" He started, but stopped when he saw what she was screaming about. Down from the ceiling came a woman, but that's not only what she was. From her waist below she was all spider, eight horrifying legs coming from a two peice body. The rest of her body was normal, except her skin was grey colored, lifeless. A black bikini top covered her chest and her black hair was piled up on top of her hair in a tangled mess. Her lips were black, her deathly red eyes staring right into Endymion. She smiled, showing her enlongated fangs. "Well hello Prince Endymion." She seethed and the man beside him gasped. "You're Prince Endymion, our savior.." He breathed and Endymion turned to smile at him weakly. Long black nails scrapped across his face as she turned his head towards her. "My mistress has spoken frequently of you." She smiled ruthlessly. "Your mistress?" Endymion said. "Metallia, the loyal servant of The Darkness." She answered. "But enough with the small talk, I came here for business, not pleasure." She walked over to the woman, who shook her head uncontrolably. "No no no no!" She screamed over and over again, as Arachnia palmed the woman's face, making her hold still. Her black lips came down on hers and Endymion saw something go down the woman's throat. Arachnia laughed, breaking away, her long black tongue retracting from the woman's throat. Arachnia smiled evilly in Endymion's direction, scooting over to him. "I think I have a kiss left for you too." She hissed. "Aren't I lucky." Endymion rolled his eyes as she got closer. "Dear God..." Suddenly through the air, a black streak of fur jumped through the air, knocking the she-demon to the ground. Endymion looked down to see Cairan rumbling in the dust with Arachnia, his fangs barred. Endymion tried to wiggle out of the silk, twisting and turning his body. His hands suddenly ran over the handle of his Golden Sword and he stopped, focusing his energy. The blade ablazed in gold, cutting the silk. He held his sword in his hands, staring down at the over grown spider with disgust. "You've laid your last egg." He growled, cutting her body in half. He turned to the others captured in the silk to see that there had been three more behind him. He walked to each one of them, cutting their silken prisons away. "Prince!" Endymion turned to see Kunzite and the others running up into the room breathlessly. "Ew, WHAT is that!" Avanla pointed to Arachnia. "The queen spider." Endymion answered and then walked up to the woman who was shaking. "Don't move." He placed his hand on her stomach, his hand beginning to glow. "There, you're safe now, the egg is gone." "Thank you prince!" She cried, hugging him quickly. He turned to the group and wiped a stray hair from his eyes. "Let's get out of here." ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* If any one was wondering I got the Shadows from Pitch Black. If you haven't seen it, GO SEE IT!
