He looked back and felt the mirror, and was surprised to see that it was hard. He pushed on it harder, desperately trying to get through. "Dang..." He mumbled, looking back up. He gasped and saw a man standing behind him. He whirled around and stumbled, falling to the ground. He looked back up into the stranger's golden eyes, they were kind and full of light. His bluish-white hair was cut like Mamoru's and a star of some sort rested on his forehead. Also, out of his head came a golden horn that glinted when he moved. "Be still young prince, I am not going to hurt you." The man said, extending his hand to Mamoru. Mamoru looked at it cautiously, before he slowly reached out his hand. Effortlessly the man pulled Mamoru to his feet. "Who are you, and where am I?" Mamoru asked, as he looked around the white room which looked exactly like the one he was just in. "There is so much to say. Please, let's go somewhere more inviting." The man said, walking up to the doors. Mamoru slowly followed him, as he led him down a series of hallways before they came to a large balcony. Mamoru went to the railing and gaped at his surroundings. It was a beautiful land, with rolling green hills and a waterfall near the balcony. It was like something out of his dreams. The man led him to two comfy thatch chairs and they sat down. "Here, have a drink." The man offered, pouring into a glass a strange orange liquid. Mamoru sniffed it, before taking a sip. He was surprised to find it had a sweet taste, and it lingered in his mouth. "Okay, so. About all of this now..." Mamoru said, and the man nodded. "Alright, my name is Elios. I am priest and leader of all you see." Elios answered, sipping at his drink. "Well, where am I?" Mamoru asked, crossing his arms. "You, Chiba Mamoru are in the land of dreams. This place is known as Elysian." Elios replied, and Mamoru stared at him. "How, how did you know my name?" "I know all about you." Elios replied simply. "You see, you are more than who you think." "This is getting weird." Mamoru muttered, starting to get up. A firm hand clasped his shoulder, forcing him to sit back down. "Yes, I know how you must feel. But you must listen to my tale, and listen well. For this could mean the end of both our worlds." Elios said firmly. *Okay, I'm dreaming or something. This place doesn't exist, and he doesn't exist. So, I'll just wake up any moment now.* Mamoru thought as he eased back into his chair. "I assure you prince, that this is not a dream." A new voice said and Mamoru looked up surprised, to find a woman standing there. She had lush brown hair that was cut short like the movie star Meg Ryan, and bluish-gray eyes. She looked to be about 14 or 15 with an oval shaped face. She wore a dark green peasant top that hung off her shoulders and a matching skirt. A golden belt went around her waist and the two streamers went all the way down to her feet. "You, you can read my thoughts?" Mamoru asked stunned. "Yes, it's a talent I possess." She said, and sat down next to Elios. "This is Avanla,(it's me everybody! LoL) she'll help you around the castle and eventually be your guide." Elios said. "Now, listen carefully to me. This place is where human's dreams come from. Every beautiful dream is made here, and some not so beautiful dreams." "What do you mean?" Mamoru interrupted. "He means nightmares." Avanla answered, leaning forward and clasping her hands together. "Beautiful dreams have always reigned in this land, and have always kept the Darkness at bay. But now, the people of your world aren't dreaming the once beautiful dreams they had before. So the Darkness is getting more powerful with every day, and Elios' powers alone can't stop it." "So that is why we sent for you." Elios cut back in. "I know, that you want nothing more than to lead a normal life, that is why I let you live in the world of humans. But, we need your help." "Why should I help you?" Mamoru said coldly, still not comprehending. "Because!" Avanla said, standing up. "If you don't our worlds will be destroyed, and one by one the Darkness will seep into the earthlings and destroy their minds. It's just not our world that will be affected, but yours too!" "But, I still don't get it. Why am I here?" Mamoru asked, confused. Avanla plopped back into her chair with a sigh and rolled her eyes. Elios gave her a hard stare and she shrugged at him innocently. "Because," Elios began, and looked back up at Mamoru. "Along time ago, this place was one with the earth. It was its core, its foundation. But due to a evil force called the Negaverse, Elysian had to separate from the earth for its own safety. King Terran ruled Elysian with wisdom, but he fell for the whims of a beautiful lady on the Forbidden Moon. Going against all the laws his grandfather had made he married her and produced one child. A boy, named Endymion. But suddenly, just as the prophecies had predicted, the king became awfully sick and soon died. Queen Gaia locked herself in her room, and slowly wasted away into nothing. The young prince was only six, and parentless. He was too young to except the throne, so I took charge. I sent him away to earth, so he could lead a normal life. I would only bring him back if necessary." "So? What does any of this have to do with me?" Mamoru asked. "Don't you see? You are Prince Endymion!" Avanla said. Mamoru stared at them with wide eyes, not believing anything he was hearing. How could he be from this place? "If you still don't believe us, that medallion you where around your neck. Look at it." Avanla ordered. Mamoru slowly reached into his shirt and pulled out a golden medallion. He held it between his hands and stared at it. A picture of the earth was engraved into it, supported by two olive branches. Underneath the earth the words 'To the earth, may your heart always be.' resided. He flipped it over carefully, to see two pegasuses rearing and in the middle of them was a seal of the earth symbol. In each section there was a different picture. In the first was the symbol for wind, the second water, the third earth and the last fire. A memory flashed before Mamoru's eyes. He was six and sitting in the hospital bed, fresh tears falling down his face. "He was the only survivor." "His parents died in the crash." "He's suffering from amnesia, and he probably won't recover." "The poor boy, he's all alone now." He remembered feeling something weighing heavily on his neck and felt down his shirt. He found the medallion and it radiated a certain aura of peace, that would sooth his fears away. Mamoru opened his eyes, and rage filled them. "You, you sent me to that hell hole! I grew up alone, on my own! I never had a normal life, you sentence me to pain! It's all your fault!" Mamoru yelled as he got up from his chair and came after Elios. Casually Avanla raised her hand, and Mamoru ran into an invisible field. Mamoru ran back into it trying with all his might to get through. "It's all your fault! It's all your fault!" He continued, until exhausted and then slumped down to the floor. "It's all your fault..." Avanla lowered her hand as Elios stood up and crouched next to Mamoru. He put his hand on his shoulder but Mamoru shrugged it off. "Leave me be." He said harshly. "I know, the pain you went through Mamoru, believe me. Every tear you've cried, every lonely night, I felt it too. I am connected to you, I feel what you feel. All the pain you went through alone, you did not go through alone. You could feel it couldn't you? Like someone was always there, being the shoulder you could lean on. You didn't have to live such a lonely life, but you chose too. You thought you deserved it somehow, like your parents dying was your fault. But they weren't even your parents Mamoru, I just put you in the car." Elios said. "But why, why couldn't you just leave me on someone's door step or something?" Mamoru muttered. "Because, they probably would've sent you to an orphanage anyways. Besides, you needed to learn to be independent if the time would come when I needed you here again." Elios answered. "I'm sorry for what you had to go through." Mamoru felt the sincerity in his voice and looked up into his kind eyes. He stood up slowly and looked back over the land. "Avanla will take you to your quarters where you should rest. We have alot to do today." Elios said, leading him to the doorway. "Come, prince." Avanla waved, walking down the hall. "She's fiery spirited, watch out." Elios smiled as he walked down the other hallway. Mamoru easily caught up with the short girl due to his long legs and they walked for awhile in silence. "So, how old are you?" Mamoru asked, trying to make conversation. Avanla looked at him for a moment, and then back infront of her. "Fourteen." Avanla answered softly. After a moment, she spoke up again. "What about you?" "21." "Hmm." "Hmm? What's hmm about?" "Nothing, just..hmming." Avanla answered as they reached his room. "This is your room." Avanla opened the doors to a huge room. The carpet was a red scarlet and the canopy bed was made from a dark brown wood. A white comforter rested on the bed and a transparent white silk hung down from the canopy. A white leather sofa sat in the middle of a room, along with a reclining chair. A dark oak desk sat against the far wall near the entrance to the balcony. And in a adjoining room was the bathroom with a large hot tub and marble sinks. "Wow, this is a nice room." Mamoru whistled, running his hand over the desk. "The best for the prince." Avanla smiled, walking over to a velvet rope. "Tug this rope if you need any assistance, and a maid will come to your aid. Would you like anything before I leave?" "No, thank you." Mamoru answered, plopping down onto the bed. "Sleep tight, your highness." ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Avanla quickly led Mamoru down a series of halls before they came to two wooden double doors. She put her and to the handle and turned around. "Before I open this door, I have a couple words of wisdom. The one with shaggy blonde hair and dark blue eyes, I suggest you stay away from him, and don't get him mad. He's, not that sociable and he especially won't appreciate you." Avanla warned and then opened the doors. They walked into the study, to see Elios with four men, all reclining on dark blue couches. "I hope you had a good rest, prince." Elios said as he stood up. "Yes, it was fine. I wish you would stop calling me that, I'm not your prince." Mamoru mumbled, sitting down on the couch. "He's still in denial." Avanla whispered to a man with long brown hair and hazel eyes. Mamoru stared at her angrily and she just smiled and she sat on the arm. "Generals, introduce yourself to the pr--Endymion." Elios said to the four men. "That's not my name either." Mamoru whispered. "Get over it PRINCE ENDYMION." Avanla growled, rolling her eyes. "My name is Zoisite." Said the man with dirt blonde hair tied behind his head in a braid. He had dark green eyes and was the shortest and youngest member of the group. "I'm trained in the art of the whip." "My name is Jedeite, I am a tracker." The man that Avanla had warned Mamoru about spoke up softly. "I am Nephlite, my senses are enhanced 50% more than any regular humans." The man seated by Avanla introduced. "And I am Kunzite, the leader of the Generals and a master at the bow." A man with long white hair and piercing sky blue eyes said, bowing slightly. "And you are Prince Endymion, ruler of this dimension and of earth, and a master of the sword." Avanla announced and stood up. She walked casually over to a golden case and lifted it open with her mind. A long silver sword came out of it, with a golden hilt. Dark blue sapphires went all the way down the middle. The two handles came down in a U shape and curled upward at the ends. "This is the Golden Sword. It belonged to King Terran and now, it belongs to you." The sword drifted across the room and into Mamoru's awaiting hands. He turned it over a couple times and the sat it in his lap. "It's beautiful." Mamoru whispered, running his hand over the blade that had the symbols of wind, water, earth, and fire engraved on the sides. "Yes, it is." Elios commented, standing up. "Now, you must learn to use it so you can go on your mission as soon as possible." *My mission?* Mamoru thought. "Avanla and the Generals will help you prepare. You only have three days, that's all I can give you. I must leave and take care of some business." Elios announced and began to walk out of the room. "Wait Elios! You can't leave me alone!" Mamoru argued, running to Elios. Elios turned around slowly and smiled. "I'm not. Remember, you'll never be alone." And with that, Elios exited the room. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* "Come on Endymion! Concentrate!" Avanla yelled as General Kunzite came down on Mamoru, knocking his sword from his hands. "This isn't me!" Mamoru yelled frustrated, as he sat down on the ground and rubbed his eyes. "*Sigh*," Avanla rolled her eyes and sat down by Mamoru. "Yes, it is. It's what you must become. You must look inside yourself and find the lost spirit of your father. You're still not excepting your responsibilities." "Would you?! I've been taken from my home, and now I have to fight some ancient evil and save the world! I'm not a savior, I'm not what you think." Mamoru yelled. With another sigh Avanla stood up and grabbed a spare sword. "Fight me Kunzite, fight me to the death." Avanla said and Kunzite's eyes went wide. "But--" "Just do it!" Avanla ordered sharply. With a sigh Kunzite came at Avanla and she blocked it. "She has no skills." Zoisite said. "She will die." Jedeite said. Mamoru watched nervously, as Avanla's sword was knocked from her hands. She feel to the floor and looked up at Kunzite who stood towering over her. "Do it Kunzite, kill me! I've lost, you must!" Avanla yelled. With a yell, Kunzite's sword came down on her. "NO!" In a blur of black Mamoru stood up and blocked the sword. He began to fight Kunzite back, developing his skills with every clash. With precise moves, Mamoru knocked Kunzite's sword from him, and put his own to his throat. Mamoru panted, then looked down to his sword. With a gasp he dropped it, and looked down at his hands. "You see, it is who you are. The protector of the defenseless. You just needed some persuading." Avanla whispered into his ear, a smile playing on her lips. "I think this is enough training for today, it's time to eat anyways! "Kunzite, you really wouldn't have killed me would you?" Avanla asked him, and he looked at her sideways. "Kunzite?.....KUNZITE!?" "So, did you have a girlfriend on earth?" Avanla asked, as she and Mamoru sat out on the balcony of his room, eating ice cream. "No, I didn't." Mamoru answered, licking his ice cream. "Do you have a boyfriend?" "Well, he's sorta my best friend. But he's miles and miles away from me now, in every way." Avanla answered downcast and a moment of silence followed. "Favorite color?" Mamoru asked finally. "Blue." "Blue." They smiled at each other. "Favorite movie?" "Haha, we do not have movies here." Avanla answered with a laugh. "We don't need them, we have dreams to watch. Although, gypsies come through every once in awhile and perform skits and stuff." "Gypsies?" "Yeah, everything you've ever dreamed about resides in this place. Every fantasy story book you've read, every myth you've heard, they're all real." Avanla explained, and Mamoru wondered about the angel he had seen in his dreams. "Well it's late, and we must train hard tomorrow. Good night, prince." And with that Avanla left him. Mamoru sat on his balcony for awhile, before sighing and walking back into his room. He pulled down the covers and plopped into the bed, falling into a dreamless sleep. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
