American Indians of various tribes came to this area to quarry pipestone. Pipestone National Monument is therefore dedicated to honoring this aspect of Native American history.
The following pictures were taken along the Circle Trail of Pipestone National Monument on May 8, 2001. They are photos of the Winnewisssa Falls of Pipestone Creek.
The following photo was taken during another visit I made to Pipestone National Monument in June of 1999 while the creek was flooded. It looks like a very different falls!
