          These photos didn't turn out as well as I would have liked them to. The lighting inside the caves wasn't the best environment for cameras, and the material that made up the cave walls seemed to reflect far too much of the light from the flashbulb. The caves looked better when I viewed them in person.


          This formation was found inside Jewel Cave National Monument in the Black Hills of South Dakota.


          Stalactites, stalagmites, and other formations abound inside Jewel Cave.


          This photo was taken inside Wind Cave National Park in the Black Hills of South Dakota.
          Only about 40 miles separate the Wind Cave and Jewel Cave systems.
          However, it is unlikely that they are connected because they are so geologically different.
