My Overall Opinion of the Episode:
This is my favorite episode of "Caitlin's Way." It contains a strong message about falsely judging people based on outward appearances.

          Episode Summary:
Caitlin has a job interview for the position of a photographer at a newspaper called The Spring City Standard. She exits the house dressed in her normal clothing. After Dori tells her that the Spring City Standard is a "conservative" paper, Caitlin reluctantly agrees to change her clothing to a more formal style in spite of the fact that she is not comfortable with the "conservative" look. The newspaper, however, decides not to hire her because of her "lack of experience." Caitlin is confronted on the street by a woman who tries to sell her a copy of Tremor, a newspaper that is attempting to shake up the way people think. Caitlin refuses to buy a copy. The woman then judges Caitlin based on the way she is dressed and says, "Come on! Look at you!" Caitlin doesn't take too kindly to being judged by this woman and exclaims with anger, "What? Do you always dis every potential customer? Or am I just special?" The woman sarcastically responds, "You're a special little princess!" Caitlin later finds a copy of Tremor and is impressed by its radical content. She walks into the offices of Tremor. The editor, whose name is Mariah, is the woman who tried to sell Caitlin the paper on the street. Caitlin tells the editor that she wants to shake things up. Mariah retorts, "Dressed like that?" Caitlin's response is quick and intelligent: "Hey, Abraham Lincoln shook things up and he was dressed like an undertaker!" The editor gets the point and gives Caitlin a chance. Caitlin is fired shortly thereafter when she fakes a series of photographs, but in the end she re-earns the trust of the editor.

          Episode Highlights:
          1. Caitlin spots a truck on which a graffiti artist has painted an incredibly artistic scene. She attempts to take a photo but is confronted by the "artist" who won't allow her to. The interaction that follows is very entertaining to watch. The artist begins to paint Caitlin's face on the back of the truck. Caitlin angrily says, "Hey, you don't have permission to paint my face!" An agreement is finally reached. Caitlin agrees to let her face be used as long as the graffiti artist, who calls himself Blue, agrees to let Caitlin take pictures of him with the graffiti. However, the owner of the truck discovers them and Blue is scared off before Caitlin gets her photos.

          2. Griffen's friend Brett needs fifty dollars to buy a new pair of shoes in time for a basketball tournament. Caitlin gets Brett to agree to pose as Blue for Caitlin's photos. When Caitlin returns to the Tremor offices, she is wearing her normal clothing. Mariah declares, "Nice make-over, by the way." Caitlin successfully sells the photos to Mariah and gets $50. She gives the money to Brett so that he can buy his shoes. However, Caitlin is fired when Mariah learns that Caitlin faked the photos.

          3. Caitlin takes pictures of Brett playing--and winning--the Summer Shoot-Off Basketball Tournament wearing his old shoes. Caitlin returns to the Tremor offices with Brett for a final confrontation with the judgmental editor who refuses to buy "another worthless set of photos." Caitlin says that the photos aren't worthless because they tell a story. Brett says, "Yeah, like how I didn't think I could win a tournament without new shoes, but I did." Caitlin adds, "And how I was judged by an editor by how I looked." The self-righteous editor is humbled. Mariah acknowledges that the photos are pretty good and agrees to print photos of the truck and the tournament. "Caitlin Seeger, you are full of surprises, " Mariah declares with a tone of respect. It is obvious that Mariah's opinion of Caitlin has changed.
