Vastly Outnumbered

(Filk by Avatar, to the tune of “Take Me Out to the Ballgame”)

Oh, I want to be vastly outnumbered
With more foes than I can count
So many opponents give me quite a thrill
A wider selection of people to kill!

Oh, I want to be vastly outnumbered
Just send them three at a time
For I’ve only got forty to go
And the banner’s* mine!

*Alternately, “bridge is…” or “field is…”

(This song was composed on the spot during the Wood’s Battle at Pennsic X. The badly outnumbered MidRealmers watched as an ever-growing Eastern force entrenched itself just outside the Resurrection Point. It was obvious that any resurrectees would be instantly slaughtered the moment they left the sanctuary. The young Avatar (at his first Pennsic as a fighter) was inspired by Duke Laurelin Darkesbane, after calmly surveying the situation, putting on his helmet with a sigh, and walking into the carnage with an almost wistful “How I love to be vastly outnumbered!” We lost.)
