Ah the Spruce Grouse, what a bird. I have searched many a day for this shy resident of the Boreal Forests but to no avail. That is why it is my number one most wanted bird!!! Also it is a very interesting bird with many interesting characteristics. For a complete book about this bird in the Upper Peninsula, look for Fool Hen by William Robinson, it is a great book and will turn any casual birder into a Spruce Grouse FANATIC!!!
