THE TYBERIKAAN TERRITORIES

Welcome to Tyberika, located in the Shendara Valley on an island formed by a fork in the Elda River which causes it join the River Shan in two separate places. A monolith towering above ground level is situated slightly closer to the eastern end of the island. Lower Tyberika sprawls around the base of the monolith while Tyberika Proper, the seat of power, sets atop it. There is only one way up, a tunnel spiraling through the solid rock.

Tyberika was built by the six races, working together. They banded together under King Meredel to defeat Kai'os Lighteater and his minions who were intent on destroying all other peoples of the Territories. Under this threat the races forged alliances amongst themselves that were to last a thousand surcles. Tyberika was the living symbol of this alliance.

Each one of the races contributed to the construction effort. The DragonKin of Lakatha Waste provided air power, without their great strength and flying ability enough building blocks to form the city would never have reached the top. The Wolves of a`Eyah Plains hunted the outlying regions, providing food for the myriad of workers and also worked closely with the Guardians of Hadrithil Forest (unicorns to those unfamiliar with our land) who consented to harnesses in order to pull “lighter” materials up the side of the monolith with giant block and tackles to speed the work along. These two folk also comprised the communication system, the wolves for outlying areas and the Guardians within the city. Dwarven Clans from the Tlangarn Mountains used their specialized metalworking skills in the construction efforts. The Merfolk of Attali Oceana supported their kin, the Estuarian RiverFolk in keeping the two rivers from changing course or flooding the area while Telaria was under construction for ten years. Mages of all the races pitched in wherever their talents were needed.

After the construction ended, all who had any training with magic fused their power into one final enchantment. Lines of power were laid through out the entire island, tied to the energy in the earth’s core. This created a giant reservoir of magic used to hold the last necessary corrections in place. The rivers were set to their banks and bound there so as to not change course or flood. Inside the monolith, rock melted and flowed, forming a spiraling tunnel and a series of caverns for storage or protection in times of immense danger. Springs welled up on several different levels, providing a water source. Each stone in the buildings was imbued with magic, making them indestructible by any ordinary means. The lines of power prevented erosion from eating away at the island. The city glowed golden with forces harnessed. Under ordinary circumstances, there was no reason Tyberika should not stand forever.

Never had there been a city so fair in all the Territories. It was truly a fitting symbol of the new era of peace and prosperity about to begin.

Alas, all good things end eventually. The Golden Age of the Tyberikan Territories ended in the War Against Magic. For the past 500 surcles Tyberika has been shrouded in fog, awaiting the return of her true rulers from the OtherWorld. This enchantment was cast to protect her from those who sought to use her magic to increase their own power. Only a true native of Tyberika is able to navigate both the fog and the treacherous river currents to successfully reach Lower Tyberika. Tyberika Proper is closed to all, impossible to reach until the return of her rulers. At that time, Tyberika will once again gleam gold and bright to the entire world, as has been foretold in prophecy. It will begin a new age of magic and wonder. We eagerly watch and wait, searching for the signs of their return, steadfast in our belief that magic will bring them back to us when the time is right.
