SMILIN' MAX HENDERSON


Max Henderson was born in Oregon and moved with his family to Michigan when he was a boy. The Henderson family was musical and played and sang together.

Max became a music teacher in Lapeer and then formed his own band called "Walter's Michigan Cowboys". As a disc jockey he worked for WTAC and WFDF in Flint. Fow two and a half years he hosted "Michigan Barn Dance" which aired on WWJ, Channel 4 our of Detroit.

Max and his wife, Vera, had 4 children: Carol, Greg, Kim and Larry. Smilin' Max Henderson was inducted into the Michigan Country Music Hall of Fame on September 9, 1994 at the Saginaw County Fair Grounds in Saginaw Michigan.
