LONNIE BARRON


Lonnie Barron was born July 1, 1931 in Forrest Louisiana to Archie and Alma Barron. While a young boy he chopped cotton to earn $5.00 which he used to buy his first guitar. He learned to play and sing and was popular at school parties. In 1948 he joined the U.S. Air Force, and after that, he once again started picking and singing country music. He had his own radio program on WDOG, Marine City, Michigan. He also recorded on the Sage Label. His last record was "Teenage Queen" b/w "Please Blue Heart".

Lonnie passed away on January 9, 1957. His fans were saddened and some wrote poems to remember the Mississippi Farm Boy.

Lonnie was inducted into the Michigan Country Music Hall of Fame on October 12, 1975
