As children we all loved to play in the sandbox.
Unfortunately we grew up and are no longer allowed to jump in and play.
Then, along came the internet !! I look upon the net as a giant playground
filled with lots of fun things to see and do. The Sandbox is my little
space on the playground, and I invite you all to come in and visit ! I
hope that you'll stick around long enough to get to know just a little
bit more about me and my life. After all, these days many friendships that
begin in cyberspace are often the most rewarding and long-lasting.

I was born in 1959 in Detroit Michigan, which is located
in the lower south east section of the state. I grew up in Livonia with
my parents and three older brothers, who (smile) teased me unmercifully as we were growing up!
I attended high school at Bentley High, where
I met my husband Dan. We graduated together in 1977 and married a year later.
We have two wonderful children ages 19 and 17. It seems impossible that we have been married for
21 years now.....wow! where has all the time went?! Dan and I still
live in the metropolitan Detroit area.
Places to visit in Michigan
I really love Michigan. It is truly a beautiful state to live in with lots of
woodlands to explore and of course, all the great lakes! If you ever
have the opportunity to visit my state be sure to check out Northern Michigan.
The sights of nature are truly breathtaking and if you enjoy fishing, canoeing,
hunting or hiking this is the place to be! A great place to visit while
here is Mackinac Island. You can catch the ferry to the island in either Mackinaw City
or cross the Mackinac bridge ( a five-mile suspension bridge that connects the upper and lower peninsulas )
into St.Ignace and catch the ferry there. The ferry ride to the island takes about 20 minutes and is a lot fun.
There are
many things to do and see on the island such as shopping , biking, horse drawn carriage tours of the
island, a tour of Fort Mackinac and much more!
One of my favorite places to visit while " up north ", as all of us southern michiganders call northern Michigan,
is Fisherman's Island State Park. It is located 4 miles SW of Charlevoix. There are many things to do there
such as camping, hunting, hiking, and my favorite thing, swimming at the beach on Lake Michigan.
A beautiful spot for a hike is the Jordan River Pathway, located 5 miles north of Alba.
If you are in the mood for a day hike there is a three mile senic loop....be warned however, this is not an easy hike!
It is rough and takes a few hours to complete. It is well worth the time and effort to do though,
especially in the fall when all the leaves have changed colors.
If you are a brave soul and want to try something a little more adventuresome,
try the hike into the campgrounds! The people who live in
Northern Michigan refer to the people who visit there as "fudgies". The reason for this
is, the best fudge in the world is made there and everyone who visits buys
some. So while you are there be sure to try some!

I guess the best way to really get to know
me is by discovering what I like.....so here goes !!
I enjoy reading a lot. The books I like the most are psychological suspense, medical thrillers,
mystery, courtroom drama and horror. I also love music of all kinds. Some
of my other interests include birds, cooking and spending time chatting in
Virtual Places. You can find me there most mornings having my coffee and
enjoying the company of my net friends. If you would care to chat with
me you can find me there as sandy--01.
