_Pink_Elephants_

Dedicated to all my friends at Denison.
I'll tell you a story that's never been told.
Of a time just gone by, in days not so old.
A tale of the lives of a few girls and boys;
A tale of the stories that were their toys.

They played not with dolls, nor with little toy cars,
But they played with elephants that came from Mars.
Elephants with skins of pink and of blue-
Impossible, you say? Ah, but it's true.

Lorla and And and Eques were their names,
And so many others did join in their games.
Like Kiwi and Emma; Joe, Bob, and Ted;
Stephie, The Klutz, and Penny and Ed.

There was Rainbow, and Leia, Learle, and Sir Jack,
And Mulder and Scully, and Kreez, and that's that.
But names aren't important; they were who they were.
It's the things that they did that we will remember.

Like singing and dancing and stalking and more.
Eating whipped cream and cheese and potatoes and korn.
They played games like hackey sack, and duck, duck goose,
And they were really quite crazy when out on the loose.

They made movies, commercials, and the HayHill show,
And when it came to folding or speaking, some were quite slow.
But they all had their talents, this much is true:
They could laugh, they could cry, and they could argue.

Aside from all that, they were always creative;
Imaginations ran wild; in a dream world they did live.
A world full of pennies, where it rained Pepsi and juice;
Where sanity and logic weren't of much use.

With birthdays and parties, the time passed so fast;
They did everything possible to make the fun last.
But, of course, all good things must come to an end,
And at least they can say that they each found a friend.

For no matter the fights, the hardships, and lies,
There was always a friend to help you get by.
And someday, they all will look back and think
Of the good times they spent with these elephants of pink.
