Last year we had more kids than ever attend the caprine classic.They were Mike Aurillio,Leah Harris,Sarah Harris,and Jamie Smith.

For county herd the youth came in 4th place.
Results from the 1998 Caprine Classic
The Classic was held once again at the new pavilion at M.S.U. in Lansing, Michigan. (The World Pony of America show was being held there at the same time adding some excitment to the day).
Jamie Smith was the county's only entrant to this years Classic so no county herd was exhibited. She took 5 does to the show and represented our county well, bringing home
- 2 first places
- 1 second place
- 1 fourth place
- 2 fifth places
- 1 sixth place
- 1 seventh place
- 1 tenth place
Jamie showed only in the Alpine division with her "dry yearling" receiving one of the first places, and showing that same dry yearling and her second place Sr. doe kid in "get of Sire" recieving the other 1st place!
Congratulations to Jamie and her herd of Alpines!And for always participating at this event to represent our county! Job well done, and we hope more youth from Manistee Co. will attend next year.
Jamie also recently exhibited at the MDGS Sanction Show in Corunna, Michigan. It was a 2 day show with a new judge each day. She had one doe go Best in Show, and one of her Alpine bucks go Grand Champion. Day two brought her almost exactly the same results. Her animals won many 1st places in their age divisions also! There were exhibitors from many states attending this show. More about that show go here!
