This is something new for me, as I hope to keep a somewhat updated log on the work and happenings here in our work in Japan. It has been a rough winter and we truly look forward to a warm Spring! Hokkaido is not the most hospitable place during the long winter, but we still enjoy the people and working with the churches here. We do covet other people's prayers for us as we preach the gospel. We are staying busy with the work in Eniwa, as well as helping with the work in Sapporo on Sunday afternoons.
I will try to keep the news coming in the days ahead!

We had snow again last night. You can see from this pic of our garage that we did not need anymore! At least most of it has slid off the roof already and it should be warmer today!

It may be April the first, but this snow is no joke! We thought it would be spring by now. The sky is beautiful this morning and that is some consolation. God is good!

Hokkaido is beautiful today. The temperature will reach to the low 40's, which seems like heaven after the cold days we have had recently. There is much to get ready for tomorrow. My sermon for both churches tomorrow will be from the third chapter of the Gospel of Mark. Our Lord healing someone certainly seems to upset some people. Sometimes it does seem the "culture of death" (certainly there seems to be something to this) has a great influence over people. Jesus came to give life. Maybe that is really why some do not want anything to do with Him? He is my Savior.

It is already Tuesday and I have taken a couple of days without an update, so today I will play catch up. The Sunday services were blessed by God, as we looked at the message from Mark chapter 6 (vs. 1-6). I preached about the contrast between God and mankind. From God we find the great themes of Life, Goodness, and Love. From mankind we find the ugly themes of Death (murder), Evil, and Hate. Quite a contrast! But very true.
Yesterday was a day off. I took the subway downtown to see what is new in the computer shops. Not much new, Thankfully, since I have no money to buy! I did buy a Japanese paperback on "blogs". Livedoor offers free blog service but I do not know if I am up to trying it yet. Since Horie San owns that company, and he has been in the news so much, I thought I might try it anyway! Do not know what I would do with a blog site however.
Today I woke up at about 5 AM and have a lot to do, both at church and catch up on e-mail.

I have been busy getting our prayer letter ready today and studying for the Sunday messages. Fortunately, I was able to study at the Starbucks coffee shop in Naebo. It is a little drive, but I love their coffee! If they would only get one in Fukuzumi, where we live, I would be grateful! It is a beautiful day and we are thankful to be alive, not enduring another snowstorm, and knowing God's grace surrounds His people wherever we may be! God bless.
