End Of Everything
She's alone again,
and it seems to her
that love will never,
ever work.
She's tried and tried,
but what she gets
is just another
heartache yet,
so she'll give up
on loving now
and get on with her life,
somehow.
The clock tick ticks
as the pendulum swings.
She's holding her hand
and twisting the ring,
watching the window,
seeing the rain,
relating the weather
to heartbreak and pain.
Her marriage is over,
she knows it's true,
but she's so unsure
of what she'll do
in this lonesome world
by herself again.
She slips off the ring,
and faces the end
of everything she's ever known,
and cries her heart out
all alone.
