It Must Be Love
By Angie
March '99

"Do you have any idea how much you mean to me?" Justin asked Angie. Standing outside her front door, his arms wrapped around her waist, he placed yet another soft delicate kiss on her lips.
"You know you mean the world to me too baby," she said against his lips.
"You wanna come in?"
"I want to," he said between kisses, "but I can't." A look of disappointment filled her features. "I can't stay tonight. I have rehearsal REALLY early in the morning," he explained.
"Ok."
He picked up on the disappointment in her voice as she cast her eyes to the wooden planks of the porch. "Hey," he said softly, placing two fingers under her chin, lifting her face, forcing her to look at him. "I'll come over right after rehearsal tomorrow, ok? I have the whole rest of the day off and I want to spend it with you."
She smiled and his heart swelled. "You promise?"
He kissed her nose and said, "Have I ever broken a promise?"
"No."
"And I don't intend to start now." He gave her another soft kiss before turning and jogging to his car. Before getting in, he looked at her on the porch again. 'God, she's an angel,' he thought as he got in.
Justin flipped through the stations on the radio as he drove down the dark street, trying to find something to fit his mood.

"Depressing." He flipped to a different station.
"Even more depressing." He flipped again.
"Head-banging music is no good." Again, he changed the station.
Stopping on a soft quiet song, he reached for the volume and turned it up as he listened to the lyrics.

**I just dropped her off
I'm think oh what a night
I oughta be flying
But I'm sitting her at this green light
I though I was in control
Thought I knew where I wanted to go
She's got me turned inside out
I'm wondering what it's all about**

He listened to every word of the song as he carefully drove down the road. Thoughts of her filled his mind.

**Is she there in your dreams?
I don't know, I can't sleep.
Is she breaking you heart?
Yeah, but isn't it sweet
Does she know how you feel?
It's right on the tip of my tongue**

She was everything to him, but he'd never actually told her. There had been countless opportunities to tell her, but something always stopped him. Most likely some odd fear of rejection. He had never felt this way about anyone before, and it scared him.

**Are you walking on air?
Well, I'm sure feeling tall
Does she trouble your mind?
It's no trouble at all.
Well, I don't know,
But something tells me
It Must be love**

The words of the song hit Justin like a brick wall. He turned the car around and headed back to her house.

** I just missed my turn
Guess I'm not thinking straight
Oh, and what's with this car
It's driving me back to her place.**

He pulled into her driveway, but didn't get out of the car right away.

**I'm out here circling around
I've already covered this ground
These feelings just can't be denied
So what am I trying to decide?**

He got out of the car and walked up to the front door. As he knocked and waited for her to answer, the lyrics repeated over in his mind.

**Something tells me it must be love,
I don't know what,
But something tells me
It must be love**

When she opened the door, she was surprised to see him standing there.
"Hi," they said. He walked in the house, shutting the door behind him
. "What are you doing here?" she asked with a confused expression on her face.
He took both of her hands in his. "I came back because I have to tell you something." Before she could speak he continued. "I was listening to this song in the car and it got me thinking about you and it made me realize something… I guess not really 'realize' it but it made me more aware of it."
"Justin, what is it?"
"I know for some people that this is really easy to say. But not for me. I've always been the kind of person to not really express how I feel."
He took a deep breath. "So know that when I say this it's coming straight from my heart and I mean. I've never said this to anyone before." He looked deep into her eyes. All the nervousness and anxiety he was feeling instantly disappeared as she stared up at him. "I love you," he finally said. His words flowing freely. The second he looked into her eyes, the words came out on their own.
"I have waited so long to hear you say that," she smiled up at him. "I love you too Justin."
They share a kiss that was unlike any other. It was slow and delicate, yet full of passion and power. A kiss that almost contradicted itself. Giving and greedy. Sharing and hunger. Lust and love.

The End
