LUAU: Luau is "Party" in Hawaiian Language.

Luau is friends and family getting togather and enjoying. Good food, Good Drinks and Good Dance. Coming to Drinks - Hawaiian Drink is "Mai Tai" its a mixture of Regular Rum and Guava Juice - topped with Spiced Rum. So its transparent at the bottom, Pinkish in the middle and then Dark brown on top. TASTES GREAT! I had enough Mai Tais in Maui. Two Photos at the Luau.

HANA - HANA Is one of the towns on Maui Island. Road to Hana is very very beautiful.

Maui is a small island but because of hilly terrain, it takes a long time driving from one point to another. And since its very very scenic, one drives slowly taking breaks at "vista points". HANA is one such part of Maui, along the coast. Return trip from where we stayed in Kihei (kee-hai) to Hana took us ONE Full Day. 8 AM to 5:30 PM. Here are some photos from HANA coastal drive.

Haleakala Mountain

Maui Island has two peaks. One of those is Haleakala. Its summit is at 10023 Feet or 3055 meters (Mt. Everest is 8848 meters). Sunrise from this peak is ultimate. we got up at 2:00 in the night, took a shower and left for Haleakala peak. As such its only 37 miles from Sealevel to 10023 feet BUT the only place in USA where within 37 miles you reach at this great height. by 4:45 AM we were at the summit observation point for SUNRISE. and by 5:30 the parking lot at the summit was packed. Sunrise time: 6:50 AM. Here are some photos at the peak. Temperature: Freezing cold, Month of December.
From Haleakala Peak, one can see Main Island of Hawaii very well if the sky is clear. we could. Its 80 miles away from Maui. Infact, the sky was so clear that we could see Kona Coast of Main Island of Hawaii. Also, while you are seeing these photographs, let me grab an opportunity to brag about my new NIKON MEDALLION BINOCULAR :0) the Silver one hanging around my neck. Good use of it in Hawaii. More about that later....

Kihei

Kihei is more of a Residential and Condo Resort Areas. Our Resort was in Kihei. It was One Bedroom / Fully equipped Kitchen / Hall with OEAN VIEW. A Good one. Especially in the evenings, ocean view from the hall was great. Some photographs on the beaches of Kihei.
