Obituary of
HENDRICK JULSON


Died, Monday, February 20, 1899, at his home about a mile south-east of the village, Hendrick Julson, at the ripe old age of 80 years.

Deceased was born at Valdris, Norway, and came to this country with his family 33 years ago, settling in the town of Blue Mounds, where he remained for 13 years, since which time he has resided in the town of Moscow. One by one our pioneer settlers are passing away till only a few remain. Mr. Hendrickson was universally respected and the entire circle of his acquaintances honor his memory. His aged wife, five sons and one daughter survive him. His sons re Knudt, Henry and Ole Hendrickson of this township, and Jule and Andrew Hendrickson of Hancock, Minn.. His daughter is Mrs. G.O. Strand of this township.

Funeral services will be conducted to-day by Rev. C.L. Rache at the Lutheran church and the remains will be interred in the Lutheran cemetery adjoining the village.



Obituary of
Mrs. Marit Olson Julson


Marit Olson Julson, born in Bang, Norway, May 18, 1822, died at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Ole Veaden, August 7, 1917 at the age of 95 years, 2 months and 20 days. In 1850 she was united in marriage to Hendrick Julson who preceded her in death 18 years ago. Seven children blessed this anion, three of whom are dead, Ole, died at the age of twelve and was in Norway, Mrs. Gilbert Strand, in 1901 and Knudt Hendrickson in 1910. Those living are Jul and Andrew Hendrickson of Hancock, Minn., and Henry and Ole Hendrickson of this place, she is also survived by 44 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. In 1866 the family came from Norway and settled in Blue Mounds, later they moved to a farm near here where she resided until the time of her death.
The deceased lived a long and useful life, she was always ready to help a neighbor or friend when in need, she was well and active until last spring and has since been confined to the bed most of the time.
Funeral services were held on Friday, August 10 at the home and at the Lutheran Church here conducted by Rev. Dommersnaes. Burial was made in the cemetery here.
