The Secret Admirer

There once was a girl,
whose eyes shone so bright.
With hair so fine,
that gleamed in the light.
She had a heart full of love,
for the man she had longed for.
Which grew greater every year,
as she waited at the door.

The one day that man came along.
Which made her heart surrender with love.
And the moment she met her deep blue yes with his,
she knew he was the one, the man she'd dreamt of.
She followed him everywhere he went.
Up through the mountains and hills.
And just by the sight of him,
simply gave her the chills.

Her presence to him,
was greatly unknown.
And when she spoke to him,
his ignorance was shown.
Her heart had completely torn,
bit by bit.
'Cause she knew this was one love,
that she never could get.

Then one day he went to that place.
Where she was waiting with peace and grace.
He walked carefully and ever so gently.
Through the glowing gates, forever her eternity.
He walked past the boulders and the mournful blocks.
Then the time came when his pace halted to a stop.
His eyes filled with tears and showed great sadness,
for the empty heart which had once held such gladness.

And he came to the place where she patiently awaited,
by the stone at his feet, with her name abbreviated.
He carried the rose from which for her he had saved,
stepping forward, then carefully laying it on her bedded grave.
