"The Reflection"

Sitting on the edge of the water, I peer down to see, my reflection staring back at me.
A simple girl, straight hair, and a warm smile.
I then think, "I haven't seen me in a while."
I wriggled my nose, the reflection did the same.
I giggled to myself, "I think I'll play this little game."
I winked an eye to the water, the girl mimicked back.
Leaning closer to get a better look and lessen up the slack.
I lay upon my stomach to study the reflections face.
She seemed to glow and her eyes held much grace.
I began to wonder what her thoughts had contained.
She gave me no clues, and the empty expression remained.
I sent the girl a smile, hoping she'd repeat me.
But she remained still, me not knowing how that could be.
The water surrounding her, gently caressed her hair.
Her image seemed to glow within the cool still air.
The clouds behind her face, tiptoed on by.
Her sapphire eyes gleamed against the peaceful blue sky.
The reflection eagerly looked at me with a questioning gaze.
With eyes so mesmerizing, I began to fall into a haze.
Suddenly I felt the need, and gently leaned forward.
To place my fingertip into the cool, clean water.
The reflection swayed in many ripples beneath my touch.
Swirling the beautiful colors, giving my emotions a rush.
I immediately felt the feelings of the girl moments ago I had seen.
Her love and her hopes. Her dreams and entire being.
Her pain and her sorrow. Her anger and confusion.
Making me dizzy, engulfing my soul into an illusion.
With my head spinning and entire self afire,
In a matter of moments, much wisdom I did acquire.
Realization and my own tale began to be told.
Tears rolled down my face as my inner self began to unfold.
The reflection stilled after its whirlpool became content.
Looking downward, I felt what the experience had meant.
I had finally looked myself in the eyes, and my angel then soared.
Not realizing I had opened a very important door.
When I finally reached out and touched the depths of myself.
I felt the many things I had so long kept on a shelf.
I learned I am unique in my own special way.
All from a beautiful reflection I had seen one day.
