One of the best movies I have ever seen would have to be Life Is Beautiful.
I saw Roberto Benigni on Entertainment Tonight, before the movie was even being heard of here. I hadn't heard about it before, but once they started to explain the plot it seemed really interesting.
I didn't hear about the movie for some time after until I checked online at the local theaters website. It just so happened to be playing, one time a night, but still playing. Myself and three of my friends were headed out that night, and I convinced them to go to Life Is Beautiful.
To tell the truth, I didn't know there would be subtitles, so I told them there wouldn't be. But alas, there were. I really didn't mind them though (it being my one of my first foriegn films, I thought it might be a little strange) because the movie flowed so well.
There are many things I could say about the movie, but probably the most significant and lasting is this: Life is Beautiful is the most heart warming, tear jerking, humorous and educational movie I have ever seen (all at once).
I would highly reccomend this movie to any one who is longing for a good story, or just the option to escape from the time we're in now and travel to a time totally different.
