January and February were pretty trying months for Philly and i as he returned to school for the first time in three years. Fortunately, anxiety attacks, misunderstandings, homework, and one long night in the E.R. only helped bring us closer together...amazingly enough.
On April 1st Mr. Philip turned 21...of course Daphne ate the roll of film that we took of the huggly celebration because she's a demon. Sometime around April my granny went a little senile...and that is a really, sad & sort of twisted story...But at least April also brought Easter time! (Easter is my favorite holiday! eeeeii!) In July, I mostly just worked a lot, and we had a lot of lab outings where we had Super Soaker Wars and stuff. hehe! And Daphne turned one! yaaay! August was pretty ok. The first weekend of the month Philly and I went to New Orleans to celebrate our 9 month anniversary. We rode on the Steamboat Natchez and just kicked back and relaxed after having both worked and gone to summer school all summer. It was dreamy. We also went to see WWF at the Centroplex on the 20th, and school started on the 21st, so it was a hectic month. I started off taking 18 credit hours...5 of them being math (eek! math is the devil) while still part-time lab tech! eek! :)
In September, i dropped Calculus 'cause it was stressing me out, and spent mucho time trying to get myself back on track...i also turned 20!
October went ok this was first year i had real, live trick-or-treaters!!! eeeii! October 8th marked a year since i met Mr. Phil, and all's still going ok. :) I saw lotsa movies in October too...Remember the Titans, The Exorcist, andThe Ladies' Man. They all kicked butt & as a result, i got hooked on Kip Pardue (a.k.a. Sunshine!) and i think i'm possessed. Woo!
For Halloween i was a medevial princess and a school girl. Thanksgiving was ok, I spent it in Baton Rouge with Dad & Phil...we talked about politics & stuff, 'cause as you all may have noticed, i got really fired up during the election and the crappola that followed.
Well...since I hadn't updated since January '00 and a lot had happened between then & now, I thought I would create this handy-dandy interactive page to get you all up-to-date with what i've been up to.
March was fun because Lisa, Bob, and Ronnie came to visit us for Mardi Gras! But then about a week later my Aunt Thelma passed away...and that really sucked. :( I miss her LOTS. My sister Lisa came down to visit me for a little while after all that happened too.
In May we went the Audubon Zoo to celebrate the end of finals. Then I took Philly to Michigan. While there we went to the Toledo Zoo (which is really in Ohio, but nevermind...) and to my favorite Bavarian Village, Frankenmuth, and to a bad ass amusement park called Cedar Point (which is also in Ohio). We hung out with some of my friends and kinfolk as well.
During June I began working full-time as lab technician in the molecular and behavioral evolutionary genetics laboratory that I have been working in for the past two years. i also presented a poster at the international conference of the Society of the Study of Evolution on our work on the reproductive isolating mechanisms and courtship dysfunction of backcrossed hybrid males of Drosophila pseudoobcura and D. persimilis...it rocked! I also took the zoology lab class that i'd been avoiding since my second semester of college....and in June i also acquired
Boris and Natasha, my two baby Savannah monitors. Eeeeii!
December was mostly cool. I participated in a talent show for my agency where i sang, performed a monologue and modeled & succeeded in winning a trophy & a contract with Premier Talent in Dallas, and i did ok on my finals...passing Organic Chem with a B thankyouverymuch! hehe. (i was soooo nervous about that class!)
After finals i went home to Michigan where i got to hang out with Kristin & my sissies & my parents & bro-in-law, as well as my cousin Ron! Kristin & i also got in a little accident when her car spun & slid into a ditch a few feet from my driveway when we were coming back from seeing What Women Want...that was pretty cool, 'cause we didn't get hurt & her car's ass was in the air in a biiiig snow bank...otherwise known as the ditch! hehe. we had to call a wrecker.
A big downer of the visit came when we learned that my dad's bladder cancer had redeveloped...so, on the 27th, he had 3 little tumors removed. But He's doing fine now, Thank God.
Philly gave me the best Christmas present ever...himself! He flew all the way up to Michigan, having never flown in his life! Then Phil, christine (my sister), Rudy (her on/off boyfriend), Lisa (my other sister), and Bob (her hubby) all went to Frankenmuth a few days before Christmas, the whole town was immesely decorated and gorgeous! Phil & I stayed up most of Christmas Eve night huggling & talking and just completely falling in Love (capital "L")...it was pretty magical. Philly had to go back to B.R. on the 27th, and that made me sad, but my sissies kept me company & we went shopping a whole bunch! New Year's Eve was pretty cool, Christine & I drank some margaritas & Philly & I kept calling each other, and Kristin came over & watched Orgasmo with me. Woo hoo!
