A Light has Gone Out
.

 A light has gone out in our beautiful town,
  The heavens are somber and weeping
Lamenting winds and sobbing sea
 Cannot disturb her sleeping..
 A candle burns beside her bier-
 We linger yet awhile;
     If she could look back on her flight to God
     She would comfort us with a smile.
     She will always live in the lovely words
   That flowed from her heart and pen
     to be released to find their way
      Into the hearts of men.
