TOP FIVE GAME FOR 2010:

1. Dead Rising (Sony, Microsoft)  3rd person shooter

2. Final Fantasy XI (PC) MMORPG

3. Red Dead Redemption (Sony, Microsoft) RPG

4. Halo: Reach (Microsoft) FPS

5. Mafia II (Sony, Microsoft) 3rd person shooter

SUMMARIES:

#1. When America's latest and greatest gambling paradise Fortune City is hit by a zombie outbreak, Chuck must do whatever it takes to survive. Pitted against tens of thousands of zombies, some serious psychos and the constant countdown of the clock, he's got 72 hours to save himself and his daughter.

#2. There's a lot to do in the game, but like Final Fantasy XI, getting anything done takes a lot of time. It's a far more soloable game than XI, but it still is not a fast-paced, high-energy MMO. It's for players who prefer a slower style of gameplay, and especially those who prefer player versus environment conflict. That means beating up computer controlled monsters instead of fighting other players. The game offers a huge range of playable classes, from axe-wielding combatants to magic users to a wide variety of crafting professions, and the best part is you're not locked into any of them. At the game's outset you do pick a class, but from that point on you are free to switch between any class provided you have the right equipment. If you're a Marauder, for example, just swap your axe for a sword and, instantly, you switch to a Gladiator. Each class is leveled separately, and the skills you earn while making progress can be equipped on other classes. This unlocks a broad range of character customization potential, letting you equip useful skills from, say, the Pugilist class on your Marauder.
